WWE News: Major Changes Made In Starrcade 2018 Match Card
WWE Starrcade will take place on this Saturday Night. One of the most popular original WCW PPV events was back last year in the same month of November. It took place at home of the show i.e. Charlotte, North Carolina. WWE did not host this as a PPV program, though scrapping from the TV schedule. But it was a major successful show.
Hence it is back this year with a packed match card. The US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio will be the host of the show. The good news is that WWE Network has included this into the programming. So we the subscribers will get to see it as a 1-hour special show. Both the superstars from WWE Raw and Smackdown will perform in it.
Now, the previously advertised matches from Starrcade has changed to a big extent. This is a direct fallout from what happened on the Smackdown go-home edition for Survivor Series. Title changes and a major injury is the prime reason for the alteration. We want to give you a rundown of the major matches, announced earlier for Starrcade.
Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were about to continue their rivalry over the Smackdown women’s championship. A steel cage match was official between these two superstars in what could be the first such women’s division match in two years. The WWE Championship would also be hanging on balance inside the steel cage.
AJ Styles and Samoa Joe were two names advertised in this match. But it’s needless to say there have been changes to both these championship matches. Becky Lynch is dealing with a broken face and hence she can’t defend her title at Starrcade. So, currently, Charlotte Flair does not have an opponent to step inside that steel cage.
But AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe match is still intact on the match card for Starrcade. But obviously, this will not be a title match since Styles lost it to Daniel Bryan. There have been changes from the WWE Raw brand, too. They advertised Braun Strowman in a handicap match against Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre which is no more there on the match card.
Braun Strowman was about to go one-on-one with Acting Raw General Manager Baron Corbin. But this match will also not take place due to Strowman’s injury. Hence, a Street Fight for the Intercontinental Championship between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose is the supposed main event of Starrcade night.
Furthermore, the mid-card championship from Smackdown will also be on the line on Saturday night. Shinsuke Nakamura will defend the United States Championship in a dream match against Rey Mysterio. Other big matches on the show will be The Miz vs. Rusev and Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre.
