Eight superstars competed in the world cup tournament at Crown Jewel PPV event. Four each from both Raw and Smackdown gunned for the prestigious cup. It would have also made them tag-holder that says, ‘best in the world’. However, there was a twist in the tale at the very end. It turned to be none other than Smackdown commissioner who took the cup away from the WWE Raw roster.
Shane McMahon was present at ringside at the final match of world cup tournament. The Miz was representing the Smackdown brand who felt something wrong with his leg. He denied competing in the most important match leaving the brand honor in jeopardy. So the commissioner entered himself into the match and won it, eventually. Here are the full world cup tournament results,
Rey Mysterio defeated Randy Orton
The Miz defeated Jeff Hardy
Seth Rollins defeated Bobby Lashley
Dolph Ziggler defeated WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle
The Miz defeated Rey Mysterio
Dolph Ziggler defeated Seth Rollins
Shane McMahon defeated Dolph Ziggler
Some of the fans were not happy to see Shane McMahon stealing the spotlight out of nowhere. There were worthy names like Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler or even The Miz to hold the world cup. They were the one who competed in back-to-back matches but could not become the ‘best in the world’.
Well, we assume the upcoming Survivor Series is a major reason behind putting Shane McMahon into this match. WWE Raw acting general manager, Baron Corbin gave an interview after the night was over and commented about this whole situation. He mentioned that this win of Shane McMahon was completely unfair. He had no rights to insert himself into the match. Dolph Ziggler should win the world cup tournament via forfeit.
He also hoped to see Shane McMahon in future to give his due back. This was a clear indication that the Raw vs. Smackdown traditional tag team match for Survivor Series is in the making. We speculated about a potential team Corbin vs. team Angle at the upcoming show. But going by the words of Baron Corbin, it is not likely to happen. Shane’s win at Crown Jewel has just fuelled up the brand vs. brand rivalry, once again.
