Shane McMahon opened Smackdown Live following WWE TLC with a shocker. She introduced Paige as the former general manager of the show who was doing a terrific job ever since getting the duty in hand. We did not expect her to go away from the role like this. But the McMahons family’s return forced her to leave the position, all of a sudden. As much as it was hard to digest, it really happened as a new era ushered in the WWE.
Paige’s last decision as GM was denied for Royal Rumble
The McMahon family is running things on both WWE Raw and Smackdown Live. There’s no spot available on both the shows for the middle-man authority figures. It means that the general manager spot will not be available in WWE programming, going forward. So there might not be a chance of seeing Paige on weekly programming or on a regular basis.
However, Shane McMahon did leave a ray of hopes for the fans of Paige, all around the world. He confirmed that the former WWE Divas Champion was not going anywhere from the WWE. It’s the role that has changed. We still don’t know what new role she intends to play in due course. This brings to some uncertainty over her future with the WWE.
PWInsider.com came up with a backstage update regarding one of the big attractions of Smackdown Live over the past few months. They revealed that Paige was not present with the roster while they were touring to conduct the Holiday Live Events. It took place over the entire last week of 2018 where the fans could not get a glimpse of her.
WWE also pre-taped the Christmas and New Year edition of Smackdown Live. Paige was absent from both the shows that still puts a question mark over her career. At this moment, it’s still hard to guess what the next step would be around her from WWE. But she will definitely be promoting the movie based on her life. Named ‘Fighting with My Family’, this project is set to hit the theatres around Wrestlemania.
Produced by the WWE and The Rock’s Seven Bucks promotions, this movie deals with the roller-coaster ride that Paige had for her entire life. It will receive a grand worldwide release in the first quarter of 2019.
