WWE News: Why Batista Chose To Face Triple H In His Last Match At Wrestlemania 35?
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista returned to in-ring competition for one final time at Wrestlemania 35. He was willing to step back into the squared circle for one last time delivering a marquee match. He has been demanding one specific opponent from WWE in the form of Triple H and received it after waiting for two years.
We witnessed the historic culmination of the demand at Wrestlemania 35. Batista faced Triple H in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania 35 that took place in East Rutherford, NJ at the MetLife Stadium. It was one of the main events of the night where Triple H put his career on the line for a noble cause that is to defend the honor of Ric Flair and himself.
He turned out to be the winner defeating Batista in what turned out to be his farewell match. Once Wrestlemania 35 was over, the six-time world champion went on record to say that he is retiring from all kinds of pro-wrestling competition. Later he joined a former friend on his podcast to declare why he chose Triple H in his last match at the biggest event of the year.
Batista joined Lilian Garcia’s Podcast to disclose the exact reason why he wanted to wrestle Triple H at Wrestlemania from the get-go. He was the man behind The Animal getting success in WWE in the initial phase of his career. The current COO of the company out a lot of investment on Batista at the beginning of the millennium that meant a lot to the Hollywood movie star.
So Batista was ready to give back something to him and the WWE who was the initial platform for him to earn a name. Also, he wanted to wrestle someone who would have a backstory with him. Triple H was also very familiar with the wrestling style of his former protégé which is why Hunter was the best option for him in the final match.
Here are more comments from The Animal about his Wrestlemania match,
“Not only did he put me over three times clean in the ring to make me a star, but also took the time to have me ride with him and have me pick his brain. He just groomed me to be a star in that company, so I wanted to finish out my career for him by just saying thank you to go out laying on my back for the guy.”
“I wanted my last match to be with him on my back because that is literally the only way that I can thank him.”
