The much-anticipated return of WWE Raw to ‘world’s most famous’ happened last night with a special episode. Stone Cold Steve Austin was in attendance to look things over in the contract signing segment between Seth Rollins-Braun Strowman. WWE’s Four-Horsewomen was in action in a solid tag team match. King of the Ring tournament’s semi-final match was on the card alongside several other contests as the show emanated from the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin came out to a big pop from the crowd to open this week’s WWE RAW. Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins joined him in the ring and signed the contract for the Universal Championship match after which the OCs appeared to interrupt. After a bit of trash-talking, Strowman and Rollins took out Gallows and Anderson. Stone Cold hit a Stunner on AJ as the fans went wild.
The first matchup on WWE Raw featured Cedric Alexander vs. AJ Styles who was still recovering from the Stunner. Cedric took advantage of it and keep AJ grounded with offensive moves. He hit a Michinoku Driver and a big kick after which Gallows-Anderson pulled him out to disqualify the match. The Viking Raiders ran out to make the save and stand tall with Cedric.
Roman Reigns came out on WWE Raw to plug in the awareness campaign ongoing for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. He brought out several young kids who are fighting the battle of their life. Michael Cole plugged in ConnorTheCrusher.com as Reigns hugged the young fans to end the segment.
Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks and Bayley was the next match line-up on WWE Raw. Becky unloaded on Banks early in the match until Bayley made the save. Flair then took control of the match locking the Figure-Eight on Banks who countered with a Bank Statement. Flair was down when Bayley missed a top rope elbow attempt and received a Natural Selection to digest a pinfall loss.
Rey Mysterio came back to action on WWE RAW against Gran Metalik who represented the Lucha House Party. Gran downed Mysterio with a high flying move on the floor. Rey came back by sending him face-first into the turnbuckle and a seated senton. After some back and forth going, Rey hit the 619 and followed up with a big splash for the win.
King of the Ring Quarterfinals Triple Threat featuring Samoa Joe vs. Ricochet vs. Baron Corbin happened next on WWE Raw. The finishing moments saw Ricochet going for the 630-splash on Joe who countered by locking in the Coquina Clutch. Ricochet somehow broke it and hit the Recoil followed by tye 630-splash. Corbin pulled him outside the ring and pinned Joe to be the finalist of KOTR tourney.
Lacey Evans competed next on WWE Raw against Natalya in a singles contest. Nattie unloaded on Evans to start the match. She Evans with a discus clothesline for a 2 count. Natalya went for the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring but Evans scrambled for the bottom rope to break the hold. She hit a neckbreaker and controlled the match, thereafter. Nattie countered big boot from Evans and locked in the Sharpshooter to pick up the big win.
The main event of WWE Raw featured big 10-man tag team with the lineup of The OC, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode vs. The Viking Raiders, Cedric Alexander, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman. It was a back and forth encounter that saw Ivar taking out everybody on the floor with a big splash from the top rope. Inside the ring, Cedric Alexander hit the Lumbar Check on AJ Styles to get a clean pinfall win. Stone Cold’s music hit the arena as the Hall of Famer came out to a huge pop. He celebrated with the winning team with beer cans sending the show off-air.
