Shawn Michaels returned to in-ring competition at Crown Jewel. It marked the reunion of D-Generation X against the Brothers of Destruction. Despite being away from in-ring competition, he was the one to carry the match away throughout. At one point, his partner Triple H was completely out of the match with a torn muscle.

There have been speculations about his opponent for quite sometimes. It looks like another new name has made it into the list. He is none other than the current WWE Champion from Smackdown!
As per the source, Daniel Bryan will compete against Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 35. WWE could bill this match as a “Teacher vs. Student” match. The former leader of the YES movement started his career at the academy that HBK used to run. No wonder that we received another gem talent out of his school.
Back in 2013, WWE actually ran this Teacher vs. Student storyline between these two. Daniel Bryan was fighting alone against the entire authority at that point. He faced Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship inside Hell in a Cell. Shawn Michaels was the special guest referee who would eventually cost him the gold playing favoritism to The Authority.
Now the characters would change a bit where Daniel Bryan would play a heel against his former teacher. We should also note that this match will not happen for the WWE Championship. If the officials can lock this bout then Daniel Bryan will drop the title prior to the biggest event of the year. We will see a new WWE Champion on Smackdown as 2019 begins.
Earlier the speculation was that Shawn Michaels will be performing against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 35. He turned out to be the reason why The Undertaker suffered two back to back losses in PPV outings. So it was only fitting that the rematch should happen. But WWE Universe will love to see this Teacher vs. Student match, rather. We think the creative team will go forward with this idea.
