Last night marked the final episode of Smackdown Live prior to Wrestlemania 35. A contract signing for WWE Championship was the headliner of last night’s show. The Miz competed in a Falls Count Anywhere match whereas the KO Show returned with two special guests. Here’s how the full episode went down from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
Smackdown Live kicked off with the Kevin Owens show. The host of the show brought out Randy Orton and AJ Styles one by one and provoked them to get into a war of words. This led Styles to throw a right hand on Orton and he set up for the Phenomenal Forearm right away. But Orton countered with an RKO to end the opening segment.
The opening contest lineup of Smackdown was Aleister Black, Ricochet and The Usos vs. The Bar, Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura. Sheamus and Cesaro took early control of the match by punishing Ricochet with some uppercuts. But the high-flyer tagged the Usos to change momentums on their favor. A double superkick to Rusev by Usos earned the victory for the babyface team.
Once the match was over, Alexa Bliss’ music hit the arena and she came out to make a huge announcement. The Smackdown tag team championships will be on the line where The Usos will defend against Aleister Black-Ricochet, The Bar, Rusev-Shinsuke Nakamura in a fatal-4-way tag team match.
The IIconics were out next on Smackdown to talk about the women’s tag team fatal-4-way match at Wrestlemania. They mentioned how pinning Natalya or Beth Phoenix or even anyone of Nia Jax and Tamina could make her the new champions. A short promo followed before they leave.
The Miz came out to address Shane McMahon before their Wrestlemania 35 match. McMahon came out to insert him in Falls Count Anywhere match against the SAnitY members. The fight moved into the parking lot as The Miz delivered a knee to the face of Young and smashed his head into an equipment box to get the pinfall win.
Becky Lynch was out next on Smackdown to address the WWE Universe. Corey Graves reminded that all three Wrestlemania main-eventers are out of the jail. Lynch stood on the announce table and gloated about winning the title match on this Sunday and become the new champion.
An eighteen person mixed tag team match was next on Smackdown that witnessed a brawl inside the ring. R-Truth and Carmella were going for a dance break but got attacked by Anderson. After this, all 18 people entered the ring and started chaos. Asuka stood tall to end the contest by sending Jeff Hardy over the top rope.
Samoa Joe vs. Ali was next matchup on Smackdown Live. Ali hit a kick on Joe followed by a suicidal dive to take control of the matchup. Ali further connected with a Broncho Buster and went to the top rope. He missed the 450-splash that allowed Joe to lock in the Coquina Clutch and win the match via submission.
WWE Championship Contract Signing was next between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston. Both men came out and sat on the desk. Bryan cut the first promo saying Kofi does not deserve a title shot. He also mentioned the WWE Universe fans as parasites. Kofi heard enough of the trash and stated that he waited 11 years for an opportunity. He is not letting it go and win the title at Wrestlemania. A staredown between them closed the show.
