WWE addressing the future of Roman Reigns was the biggest concern of Smackdown, this week. A major fallout was waiting for him after attacking Mr. McMahon, last week. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston return in action in solo act whereas Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch came face-to-face. Here’re the results from the post-Superstar-Shakeup episode of the show hosted by the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Shane McMahon kicked off this week’s Smackdown Live. He was not in a pleasant mood and went straight to address the Roman Reigns situation. He called out the Big Dog to have a confrontation. Elias showed up from behind to create a fight. Shane attacked Roman Reigns from behind who fought out but Elias hit the Drift Away to put him down.
Finn Balor vs. Andrade was the next match lineup on Smackdown Live. Prior to the match, Zelina Vega cut a promo on how Andrade wanted more than just the Intercontinental title but wants to destroy the myth of Finn Balor. However, Andrade missed a Hammerlock DDT as Vega jumped into the ring to attack Balor who moved out and set up Andrade for Coup De Grace. He hit it successfully to win the match.
Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were out cut a promo mocking Kairi Sane and Asuka. Kairi featured in her first match in Smackdown Live against Peyton Royce. Royce started with some kicks but Sane caught her leg and hit a dragon screw. Sane followed up with a spear and hit the InSane Elbow off the top rope to pick up the win. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville showed up to sarcastically applaud Paige, Asuka, and Sane.
Chad Gable vs. Jinder Mahal was about to happen on Smackdown but the match never happened. As Chad was roaming around the ring, Lars Sullivan threw him into the ring post. He went after Mahal who left the ring as Lars attacked the Singh Brothers. R-Truth came out trying to fend off Lars but failed. The monster planted him with a powerbomb before leaving.
WWE Raw and Smackdown women’s champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair featured in a face-off segment, next. Charlotte mentioned how Becky pinned Ronda and not her. So technically, she never lost the Smackdown women’s championship and wanted a shot at it, again. Bayley showed up and pointed out Superstar Shakeup should have started things fresh but it’s not.
She challenged Charlotte Flair to a match with the winner getting a future title shot. The match was underway, right away. Bayley missed a top rope move as Charlotte locked her into the Figure Eight. Bayley came out but got caught with a vicious spear to digest the loss. After the match, Becky Lynch announces that she will defend Smackdown women’s title at Money in the Bank against Charlotte Flair. WWE also confirmed Elias vs. Roman Reigns for the upcoming PPV event.
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Shinsuke Nakamura was the main event of this week’s Smackdown. Kofi hit an SOS on Nakamura but Rusev broke up the pinfall and thereby disqualify the match. Owens and Kofi neutralized Rusev and Nakamura inside the ring after which Owens attacked Kofi. He continued the assault and delivered a powerbomb on Woods in the ring apron to end the show.
