Full list of participants for this year’s Money in the Bank is now official following Smackdown. WWE has now confirmed all the eight names for the ladder match from both Raw and Smackdown division. Kofi Kingston noted on the attack from last week whereas Becky Lynch competed in a first-time matchup. Here’s how all of these went down at the Value City Arena (Schottenstein Center) in Columbus, Ohio.
Michael Cole introduced Kofi Kingston to kick off Smackdown Live. A video package aired that showed Owens attacking Kofi from last week. Kofi announced that he has no problems to defend the WWE title against Owens who came out on the ramp. Xavier Woods attacked him from behind but he fought back and went back to backstage.
Becky Lynch took on against Bayley in the opening contest of Smackdown. Becky was in control hitting a suplex followed by a forearm. Both women hit clotheslines to go down. Bayley recovered and went for the top rope elbow. Becky put up the knees and locked in the dis-arm-her to get the submission win. Charlotte Flair attacked both the women after the match.
The Hardy Boyz appeared on Smackdown to declare that Jeff Hardy picked up an injury. He will have to undergo surgery and must forfeit the Smackdown tag team championships. Lars Sullivan hit the ring and went right after Matt Hardy. The attack continued on Matt as R-Truth came out with a chair in hand to hit Lars that did not have any effect! He delivered a big sit down powerbomb onto R-Truth to end the segment.
The next matchup on Smackdown featured Asuka and Kairi Sane with Paige vs. Two unknown women. One of the women slapped Asuka to infuriate her as she answered back with a right hand followed by a kick. A released German Suplex followed as Kairi Sane got the tag. She dropped the InSane Elbow from the top rope to get the win.
Roman Reigns appeared on Smackdown Live to cut a promo. But Shane McMahon interrupted him and put into a handicapped match against Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Elias was the special guest referee of the match who attacked Reigns during the match. He fired back with a Superman Punch on Elias and hit a double-spear on Dallas and Axel for the win.
A tag team match was next on Smackdown with the lineup of Finn Balor and Ali vs. Randy Orton and Andrade. These four names will be part of men’s Money in the Bank ladder match from Smackdown. Balor downed everyone flying over the top rope. He went for the top move when Zelina Vega distracted him. Andrade hit the double-knees on Balor and went for the Hammerlock DDT but Balor got out of it and tagged Ali. Balor hit a Slingblade which Ali followed with a 054-splash for the win. After the match, Orton dropped Balor with an RKO.
Bayley, Mandy Rose, Ember Moon, and Carmella will be the four competitors of women’s Money in the Bank ladder match as per the confirmations received from Smackdown.
The Kevin Owens Show was back on Smackdown with the special guest Xavier Woods. He called out his guest for multiple times who did not come out. So Owens went for a lot of trash talking about all the New Day members until Kofi Kingston’s music hit the arena. He came out to go after Owens, right away to start a brawl. Kofi threw Owens over the announce desk and hit him with a chair. But Owens raked Kofi into the eyes to escape the scene through the crowd. Kofi stood tall as Smackdown came to an end.
