Smackdown presented the go-home edition for Summerslam, last night. The main concern heading the show was the situation around Roman Reigns. We hoped to learn the name who was attacking him on a constant basis. The Kevin Owens Show also took place with Shane McMahon as a special guest. The other PPV rivalries also received a big boost on the show that was hosted by the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

New Champions Crowned On WWE Raw Ahead Of Summerslam

Goldberg Returned On WWE Raw, Huge Summerslam Match Announced

Charlotte Flair was out to kick things off on Smackdown Live addressing WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. She mentioned that Trish was never as good as her and she had proof of it in a video package. But luckily Trish took control of the video that showed otherwise. Soon, the legend came out to cut a promo back blasting Flair. She also slapped Flair on the face forcing her to walk away from the ring.

Dolph Ziggler was set to face Rey Mysterio on Smackdown. He came out with the music of WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg who will face him at Summerslam. The match never took place as Ziggler went right after Mysterio before the match. He hit a superkick on his opponent and tried to rip off the mask. Ziggler also cut a promo on the returning legends like Goldberg before Ali cut him off.

Ali ran down to the ring trying to make a save for Rey Mysterio as we received an impromptu matchup on Smackdown. Ali faced Ziggler in it to start the match with a drop-kick and unloaded some punches. Ziggler tried to counter with a roll-up but ate a clothesline from Ali. He could not pick up the pinfall win since Ziggler caught him with a superkick to pick up the win.

The next matchup on Smackdown was a Summerslam Challenger vs. Challenger match where Natalya faced Ember Moon. A brawl broke out in the match where Moon sent Natalya into the ringside barrier. But Nattie locked in the Sharpshooter on Moon outside the ring that forced the referee to disqualify the match. Bayley ran out to make the save but Natalya shoved her into the barricade before walking away.

A must-see edition of The Kevin Owens Show happened on Smackdown where KO invited Shane McMahon as his special guest. Owens tried to infuriate Shane saying that he should put his career on the line at Summerslam. Elias attacked Owens from the back as the heel duo ambushed him, afterward. Shane positioned a steel chair on Owens’ neck and hit a drop-kick. He kept on unloading punches on Owens as the officials arrived to check on the latter one.

Sami Zayn went on a rant on Smackdown since Aleister Black did not respond to his Summerslam challenge. Black soon appeared and informed him that the match won’t happen at the PPV but right there. The match went underway as Sami took control hitting two back to back clotheslines. Black came back with a Running Knee and a second rope moonsault. A Black Mass followed on Sami to pick up the win.

Smackdown Tag Team Champions Big E and Xavier Woods came out on Smackdown to compete in a match against Daniel Bryan and Rowan. The concluding moments if the match witnessed Big E spearing Bryan through the ropes as Woods went for a leap on Rowan who hit him with a steel step. The referee disqualified the match as Rowan planted E with Iron Claw. Bryan hit Woods with the Running Knee to end the segment.

The camera then cut to backstage as we saw Roman Reigns entering the men’s locker room and telling everyone to leave, except for Buddy Murphy. He asked Murphy to reveal the truth about the mystery attacker. Murphy refused as Reigns started beating him down. Finally, he revealed that Rowan did that as the camera showed Bryan and Rowan still standing in the ring. Smackdown went off the air with a confusing note as they continued looking into the big screen.
