Smackdown Live came up with a solid match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade Cien Almas, last night. The storylines from the blue brand moved forward to Royal Rumble as Samoa Joe made a huge statement. Also, we received a birthday bash for Shane McMahon thrown by the Miz. Here’s how all of those went down on the show that took place at the Legacy Arena at Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Becky Lynch was walking into the arena to kick things off on Smackdown Live. She met The New Day and Heavy Machinery during her entrance into the ring. She cut a promo on her future title win at Royal Rumble against Asuka. The Smackdown women’s champion soon interrupted creating a verbal altercation. The IIconics soon interfered setting up the opening contest.
The IIconics received a challenge from Becky Lynch and Peyton Royce accepted it in a singles contest. Becky started the match with all-fire manner putting Peyton down with a dropkick followed by a hip toss. NXT talent Lacey Evans was watching the match at backstage. Becky Lynch soon locked in the dis-arm-her forcing Peyton to tap out of it.
Asuka seemed irate about Becky’s win. She went into the ring and challenged Billie Kay in another match. She dragged Billie into the ring the right away as the referee rang the bell. Asuka started the match with the hip attack followed by a sliding knee. She locked in the dis-arm-her mocking Becky Lynch. Billie rolled her up but Asuka converted into the Asuka Lock to get the submission win.
AJ Styles made his way to the ring next on Smackdown Live. He enjoyed sometimes with the fans before going into the concession stand. In contrast to last week, he encouraged the fans to do whatever they wanted to do with their hard earned money. Daniel Bryan soon appeared at that place ensuing a brawl. AJ Styles threw Bryan into a table full of foods to end the segment.
A staff member handed a box to Jimmy Uso. Inside it was a letter signed by Mandy Rose alongside a hotel room key card. He looked confused about what to do with it. Samoa Joe was next on Smackdown in a match against Mustafa Ali. The match never happened since Samoa delivered a blindside attack on Ali. He blasted Ali into the ring post before walking away.
Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade Cien Almas was next on Smackdown Live. Mysterio started the match with an acrobatic takedown. He was about to take control of the match when Andrade targeted his mask and send him into the ropes. After back and forth going, Mysterio landed the 619 and went to the top ropes. But Zelina Vega distracted the referee allowing Andrade to hit the Hammerlock DDT for the win.
Jimmy Uso got into a hotel room where Mandy Rose was waiting for him wearing lingerie. A camera appeared and took a picture of these two. Jimmy got surprised with this as Mandy talked trash about his wife. Naomi soon arrived into the scene creating a brawl. Mandy Rose escaped the room, somehow.
The Miz’s birthday bash for Shane McMahon was next on Smackdown. The segment was interrupted by The Bar as expected. Shane instructed Sheamus to have a match with The Miz, right there. Cesaro tried to distract Miz but Shane threw him into the commentary table. Miz got a quick win via the roll-up. After the match, The Miz held a cake before Sheamus’ face as Shane hit the Coast to Coast on him through it. Miz and McMahon celebrated to end this week’s episode.
