Smackdown Live storylines received major boosts following Stomping Grounds with as a fresh championship feud started. Replacing the former contender was none other than Samoa Joe from Monday Night Raw. He received a new target in the WWE Champion whom he will get to share the ring at Extreme Rules which is the key element heading into tonight’s show.

As for the other angles, the women’s championship match will see an already continuing angle getting stretched. But two more fresh feuds are likely to pick up from tonight’s Smackdown onwards over the Intercontinental and the women’s tag team championships also confirming new PPV matches. We can expect this and more on tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live that takes place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Kofi Kingston should have had a longer championship celebration after the successful title defense at Stomping Grounds. But Samoa Joe did not let that happen by attacking him on Raw, out of nowhere. It also earned him the championship opportunity he was looking for at Stomping Grounds. This could very well be the toughest challenge the fighting champion faces on July 14th.

The Samoan Submission Machine proved so on last night’s Raw, once again by outsmarting Kofi Kingston. This time around, he actually submitted the champion by choking him out with the vicious Coquina Clutch move. Joe clearly has the upper hand right now in the ongoing feud. Can the champion fight back on tonight or else Joe will continue making statements on Smackdown?

Alexa Bliss will be getting yet another opportunity to the Smackdown women’s championship, thanks to the efforts from Nikki Cross. Her buddy won a match on her behalf to set up the rematch at Extreme Rules. So the cross-brand rivalry will continue where Little Miss Bliss continues her journey to become a champion. In the meantime, Cross has lately been on a roll, unlike Bliss who lost her schedule match on Raw. So will Cross try to insert herself into the equation?

Another women’s division title match from Smackdown should become official on tonight’s show. After a long time, the women’s tag team championships will be on the line in a significant manner on a PPV event. The Kabuki Warriors defeated The IIconics in a tag team match at WWE Tokyo Live Event. As per the condition put from the challengers, they will get a title shot by virtue of this win.

As for the Intercontinental Championship, the earlier feud between Finn Balor and Andrade has come to an end. As seen on last week, Balor shared a backstage moment with Shinsuke Nakamura who was targeting the championship. So this mouth-watering feud should officially start on Smackdown that will be a pleasure to the fans. It will also bring back the two unused superstars on TV which is a good indication for their career.

Lastly, WWE.com hinted that The New Day will stick to their mission on becoming new Smackdown tag team champions,

“With WWE Champion Kofi Kingston preparing for the challenge of Samoa Joe, fellow New Day members Big E & Xavier Woods had quite the week for themselves, pinning SmackDown Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan in an Eight-Man Elimination Tag Team Match on Raw, then defeating Bryan & Rowan in tag team action last Tuesday on SmackDown LIVE. Have The New Day reestablished themselves as a threat to the SmackDown Tag Team Titles?”
