WWE Smackdown Preview (10/04/20): Braun Strowman; Wrestlemania Rematch
There were some uncertainties over WWE continuing their TV tapings, moving forward as their only taping venue was under a mandatory shutdown order. But somehow, they have managed to get permission from the state of Florida to go through the next set of TV tapings. Thus we will be getting the next episode of SmackDown, tonight.
It is going to be the post WrestleMania episode of SmackDown which brings all the fallouts from the event, together.
A new era will begin courtesy of the new Universal Champion who makes his presence felt on the show. Also, a WrestleMania rematch will go down when the taping airs from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Braun Strowman has just captured the Universal Championship belt from WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg on Night Two of WrestleMania 36 last Saturday. He survived four mammoth spears from The Myth and hit four of his own pendant Running Powerslams to secure the win as well as his first world championship.
As announced by WWE.com, the Monster Among Men will usher in his new era during Friday’s post-WrestleMania 36 edition of SmackDown on FOX,
“The Monster Among Men earned a career-changing win at WrestleMania and heads to SmackDown to usher in his new reign as Universal Champion.
Braun Strowman fought off not one, not two, not three, but four vicious spears before delivering four consecutive Running Powerslams and conquering WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg at The Show of Shows for the title.
What will the future hold for Strowman now that he carries the crown of Universal Champion? Will a new challenger step up and run the risk of getting THOSE hands?
Tune in to SmackDown at 8/7 C on FOX to see the champ reset the SmackDown landscape.”
Speaking of championship match leads us to mention that a Fatal-5-way Women’s Championship match took place at WrestleMania 36 where Bayley successfully defended against four competitors via assistance from her best friend, Sasha Banks.
Although these two shows strong unity, the time has come when one of then turns on the other to start the title feud. Sasha holding the SmackDown Women’s Title certainly indicated that she is starving to hold the belt. Hence, it’s only a matter of time that the rivalry between the duo begins.
A big match has also been scheduled for this week’s SmackDown which was the opening contest of WrestleMania main show on Night I. WWE has confirmed that Kairi Sane and Asuka will get their rematch from new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss.
WrestleMania witnessed Bliss and Cross capturing the titles from The Kabuki Warriors and start their second title run. Going by the below lines, the former champs get a golden opportunity to take back the titles,
“Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross backed up their claim as deserving Women’s Tag Team Champions with a hard-fought victory against The Kabuki Warriors at WrestleMania 36. Now the two-time champions will have to turn around and prove it all over again.
Bliss & Cross will face Asuka & Kairi Sane in a rematch of the thrilling battle at The Showcase of the Immortals.
Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown at 8/7 C to catch the championship showdown.”
Apart from these championship storylines, we also expect to learn what next in the Intercontinental and SmackDown Tag Team Championship picture.
Sami Zayn is the reigning IC champion defeating Daniel Bryan whereas John Morrison retained over Kofi Kingston and Jimmy Uso. Also, the initial buildups for the next pay-per-view, Money In The Bank might also begin.
