WWE Smackdown Preview (15/01/19): Rey Mysterio-Almas, Shane McMahon Birthday Bash, Carmella-Sonya Deville
With only 13 days remaining from Royal Rumble, Smackdown Live is coming up tonight with the third episode of 2019. Things are looking heated up enough as we already received multiple announcements for this episode. Two of the best Mexican imports to ever step foot into WWE ring will square off in the main event of the night. It will be Rey Mysterio up against Andrade Cien Almas. They will certainly look forward to creating magic with each other.
Another matchup has now been official on Smackdown where Carmella will take on against Sonya Deville in a first-time ever contest. Also, an added attraction of the show is a Birthday Bash for Shane McMahon thrown by The Miz. The WWE and the Smackdown women’s championship storylines will also continue between the champion and challengers. All of these will be in-store when the Tuesday Night show comes live from the Legacy Arena at Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Rey Mysterio takes on against his fellow Mexican Andrade Cien Almas in a match that WWE Universe will love to see. This is not the first time that they will share the ring on Smackdown Live. But the anticipation is high regarding this bout since they are able to bring the very best out of each other every single time. We have always wanted to see a long feud between these two which might begin on tonight if the match does not see a proper finish. Rey Mysterio is the perfect name at this point to make Almas a valiant name on Smackdown by starting the rivalry.
Today marks the 49th birthday of Shane McMahon for which we are up for a celebration. His tag team partner The Miz was willing to host a party on behalf of the show-runner. WWE.com later confirmed this segment on Smackdown,
“The Miz clearly has plans to celebrate his tag team partner in extravagant fashion on Shane-O-Mac’s birthday this Tuesday. Will this party help draw the two teammates together as they prepare to challenge The Bar for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at this year’s Royal Rumble event? Find out when SmackDown LIVE airs this Tuesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network.”

Now initially it would be a celebration in Hollywood style since The Miz is the host of the show. But things would not go down as smooth as it is being thought. The Bar will definitely come out to spoil the party to the so-called ‘best tag team in the world’, according to The Miz. This will help to heat up the rivalry between the two teams as they head towards Royal Rumble over the title match.
Sonya Deville accused Carmella of stealing her spot on last week’s triple threat number one contender’s match. She stated that it was her place that the princess of Staten Island misused. War of words on Twitter has now converted into a match on Smackdown between these two. Things might turn out chaotic as Sonya’ partner Mandy Rose is in a feud with Naomi. If the former Absolution members try to gang up on her then Naomi would come out to neutralize things.
Speaking of the women’s division leads us to the new number one contender for Smackdown women’s championship, Becky Lynch. She will rightfully challenge Asuka in a title match at Royal Rumble after becoming the new challenger. It will be interesting to see how she manages to pick up momentums heading into the title match at Royal Rumble. Daniel Bryan clearly has the upper hand with his heel antics in the other title picture. AJ Styles might make a desperate try to make a comeback.
