WWE Smackdown Preview (18/12/18)-Asuka Coronation, Daniel Bryan, TLC Fallouts
Smackdown Live delivered two solid championship matches at WWE TLC. It was after a long time that we received a main-event from the blue brand where both the brands performed. But then again the match did not end without controversy. Ronda Rousey interfered the first-ever TLC match from the women’s division to continue her rivalry against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
A fallout from this angle will be the focal point of Smackdown Live. We will also witness the coronations for the two champions from the male and female division, respectively. There will be a women’s division match that was about to take place, last week. Plus, Royal Rumble buildups might also begin on the show. Tonight’s Smackdown takes place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.
The question remains who Ronda Rousey would face next after retaining her title at WWE TLC. It is almost certain that it will not be someone from the Raw roster. Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are building the rivalry with the baddest woman on the planet for sometimes. This should set up a couple of matches in due course.
Royal Rumble is an event where the champions do not perform in general. So will the creative team sanction either Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch or Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair? We will find out from the storyline progress on Smackdown.
Also, Asuka has become the new Smackdown women’s champion at WWE TLC. This automatically set up a rematch against Becky Lynch in due course. We will find out when this match would take place. If Becky remains busy regaining the title, then Charlotte will be the front-runner to face Ronda Rousey, next.
Speaking of the women superstars, there will be a women’s division match on Smackdown. Mandy Rose and Naomi were about to compete in a match, last week. But it did not happen as per the announcement. So Paige booked it on this week’s show to culminate a feud built on the social media.
Daniel Bryan retained the WWE Championship at WWE TLC continuing his heel antics. He is looking stronger than ever with the title around his waist who might be waiting for a new rivalry. AJ Styles lost the rematch to get out of the title picture, perhaps. In that case, we should have a contender’s match on Smackdown to have a new challenger for Bryan. There are also rumors going on about Bryan possibly unveiling a newly designed WWE Championship belt.
Jeff Hardy and Samoa Joe did not receive a match at WWE TLC since it was a packed card. This feud has just begun on Smackdown and should continue before they square off inside the ring. Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura are in a similar position where who is due with a United States Championship match. Rusev pinned Nakamura last week during a tag team match to earn the opportunity.
We will also see what is coming up next in the Smackdown tag team championship picture. The Bar should receive new challengers for the titles. Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton should move on to next storylines in-store for them after their Chairs Match at WWE TLC.
