WWE Smackdown Preview (20/03/20): Goldberg-Roman Reigns Contract Signing
In the midst of the Coronavirus epidemic, WWE continues to deliver weekly programming in a closed-door environment. The backstage feeling is that empty arena matches aren’t working that well. Hence, we are not likely to see several matches on tonight’s SmackDown but more segments leading up to the biggest event of the year.
The host of WrestleMania 36 will be making his debut on SmackDown with some important announcements that are going to be the headliner for this week’s episode. Goldberg will return on the show after two weeks of hiatus to sign the contract to make the Universal Championship match official at WrestleMania 36 against Roman Reigns.
THIS FRIDAY: @WWERomanReigns and #UniversalChampion @Goldberg will sign the contract for their showdown at #WrestleMania, PLUS @RobGronkowski will be LIVE on #SmackDown at 8/7c on @FOXTV! pic.twitter.com/9OIb4iCUuN

We are also likely to get hints of a couple of more WrestleMania matches when the show emanates from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
WWE has hyped up the 36th edition of WrestleMania in the latest announcement that named Rob Gronkowski to be the host of the two-night affair. The former New England Patriot has signed a new deal with the WWE to feature in this role. Thus, he is appearing on SmackDown to drop some big-time confirmations on how WWE plans to host the ‘show of shows’ from multiple locations. His appearance on TV is also likely to garner mainstream attention for WWE.
Two weeks ago, Goldberg appeared on SmackDown after his win over The Fiend Bray Wyatt for the WWE Universal Championship. He was quick to declare an open challenge to the locker room members for his belt.
Roman Reigns was the first to step in and declare that he’s next. Thus one of the fantasy matches has become real. Now, on tonight’s SmackDown, both these superstars will be live at the PC to sign the dotted lines to make the match official,
“The first interaction between these two warriors featured very few words but set the stage for what promises to be an epic Universal Championship clash on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
What’s in store this time as The Big Dog and Goldberg come face to face on the blue brand?
Tune in to SmackDown at 8/7 C on FOX to see what fireworks are ignited by the collision of these two icons.”
For weeks now, the SmackDown Women’s Championship storyline has not progressed, at all. Bayley has surpassed more than 300 days as the champion as WWE still struggles to give her an opponent for WrestleMania.
In the meantime, she and her best friend have been involved in a short altercation with the Kabuki Warriors, as well. Could this be a set up for Sasha Banks and Bayley challenging Asuka and Kairi Sane over the women’s tag team championships?
Another ongoing rivalry from SmackDown is taking over the social media in their absence from the blue brand. Mandy Rose and Dolph Ziggler have left the WWE Universe fuming with their lovey-dovey posts on Twitter.
This is said to be a work to set up the predicted match between Ziggler and Otis at WrestleMania 36. Hopefully, they will be on the show tonight to indicate whether this match is still on the card or not.
