WWE Smackdown Preview (20/08/19): Daniel Bryan-Buddy Murphy, King Of The Ring Tournament
Aug 20, 2019 at 1:31 PM
Tonight’s Smackdown will be the second episode following 32nd annual Summerslam that should build the storylines for the next PPV in line named Clash of Champions. The fallouts from the bygone PPV should be useful in building up the next set of big matches for the September show. As for tonight, the focus would be on new announcements as well as an ongoing rivalry featuring Roman Reigns.

The alleged attacker of the Big Dog, Daniel Bryan will speak up on who the real attacker was wanting to come up with life threats to him. Plus, Bryan will be in action in a match against Buddy Murphy. Another pair of matches are also official on the show which would be continuing the King of the Ring tournament. All of these and more will be on Smackdown which airs from the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The interesting situation featuring Roman Reigns continues as we are yet to find out who his attacker was before Summerslam. As revealed by Buddy Murphy, Rowan and Daniel Bryan might have to do something with this which does not have any proof. In the middle of all these, Bryan decided to reveal something about the attack on Smackdown. The audience will certainly be eager to hear what he had to say on this issue.
Last week on #SDLive, @WWERomanReigns and I went face to face & left it all in the ring. If @WWEDanielBryan has an issue with me, he can meet me in the same place I met Roman! Challenge issued.

Meanwhile, Daniel Bryan and Rowan were not happy with the fact that Murphy took their name as the attacker and revealed it to Roman Reigns. The duo then ambushed the former Cruiserweight Champion after he pulled off a show-stealing performance against Roman Reigns. As for tonight, Murphy is a man on a mission who issued a challenge to Daniel Bryan on Smackdown. The latter one accepted after which WWE.com confirmed the matchup,
“Last Tuesday night, Daniel Bryan & Rowan forced Buddy Murphy to admit he lied about seeing Rowan at the scene of the car accident that nearly maimed Roman Reigns. This Tuesday night, WWE’s Best Kept Secret will look to restore his name against “The New” Daniel Bryan on SmackDown LIVE. Murphy proved he would not be one to back down when he challenged Bryan to this match over the weekend. Will Buddy be able to get a measure of retaliation after Bryan & Rowan recklessly brutalized him last week? Find out on SmackDown LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network.”
We have not heard or seen the Smackdown women’s champion, Bayley since after her successful title defense at Summerslam. She put away Ember Moon in what was an effective win. But keeping Bayley off the TV is not likely to project her as a strong champion. We expect to get a new challenger over the Smackdown women’s champion on tonight. There is a chance that Charlotte Flair may turn out be the one since she is on a winning streak, as of later.
As for the WWE Championship picture, the rivalry between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton is continuing even after Summerslam. Last week, the challenger gave a straight warning to the champion by hitting consecutive RKOs on him as well as The New Day members. The question remains how will Kofi fire back to The Viper who held him back, a decade ago. This feud should culminate the second match between the two of them at Clash of Champions.

As for the other set of matches, King of the Ring tourney continues tonight as WWE already announces a couple of matches on Smackdown. Kevin Owens will take on WWE 24/7 Champion Elias and thereby taking revenge from last week. In the other match, Andrade will compete against Apollo Crews when Smackdown airs from Sioux Falls.
