Sami Zayn hasn’t been seen on SmackDown for several weeks. If the earlier reports are any indications then he’s not coming back, anytime soon amid this coronavirus pandemic. Considering he is the Intercontinental Champion, a decision has to be made by the WWE. Now it seems, his status as the mid-card champion will be addressed this week.
WWE Superstar Sami Zayn Missing Shows Due To Coronavirus Pandemic?
Ringside News was the first one to report that Sami Zayn won’t be back on SmackDown for a while. They also revealed that the status of the IC title will also be addressed shortly which was further confirmed by POST Wrestling, this week.
Perhaps, we’d hear a confirmation when this week’s SmackDown airs on FOX from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. No confirmation is available on what or how WWE is going to address the situation.
Legendary Rey Mysterio’s WWE Contract Soon Coming To An End?
Speculations suggest that it won’t end with Sami Zayn still being the Intercontinental Champion. It should be noted that after a long time, Sami Zayn was finally able to pick up a championship in WWE and potentially have a good run with it following WrestleMania with Nakamura and Cesaro working as his stablemate. But now the situation has deteriorated to a situation where Zayn is sandbagging his own push.
It’s believed that Sami Zayn decided not to wrestle or attend the TV tapings conducted by WWE during the COVID-19 outbreak due to his health concerns. He missed numerous such tapings from the closed-set Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It was earlier noted that WWE reportedly told employees that they didn’t have to work during the coronavirus pandemic if they’re not willing.
Their decisions would not go against them in the future but then again there’s no certainty in this regard. Roman Reigns is reportedly suffering a backlash over pulling out of WrestleMania 36. The same may be the case for Sami Zayn, as well. He retained the IC title over Daniel Bryan at the show of shows. The IC title belonged to him since Elimination Chamber on March 8 where he won the belt from Braun Strowman.
