The opening of Smackdown Live was weird by all means. Jeff Hardy came out to hype up the US title match. We expected Nakamura to confront Hardy so that the scene gets heated up.
But instead, it turned out to be just two separate promo sessions from the two veteran performers. It failed to make any impacts on the fans.
However, the opening match of Smackdown was a great one between AJ Styles and Andrade Cien Almas. The former NXT Champion went toe to toe against the current WWE Champion and took him to the limit. It was a first-time contest that was far entertaining for us. It just showed the bright future of Almas despite the shortcoming.
It was an expected move to see Becky Lynch picking up the win against Mandy Rose. WWE had kept her within a string of victories for one sole reason. The creative team will finally send her to the championship picture at Summerslam. It looks like that Lynch will take on against Carmella for the title. Meanwhile, her match was not that much good on Smackdown.
The Miz was back onboard with a solid segment of Miz TV. This man can’t do anything wrong especially when it comes to the promo segment. He was on fire while talking trash against Team Hell No. Daniel Bryan came from the back to deliver an attack on him. It is almost certain that Bryan vs Miz will happen at Summerslam in a heated bout.
Hardy vs Nakamura took place for the main event of Smackdown Live. It was a solid encounter between these two veteran names which came to an end via disqualification. Randy Orton came out and continued to attack Hardy cementing his heel persona.
We do know what Orton can do with a villainous gimmick, and now he is back in that form. It would make him look even stronger. It was an average episode of Smackdown Live to start things for Summerslam. Check out the Twitter reactions for the show, here,
