ToggleRishabh Pant and Navdeep Saini will be playing for Delhi in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, DDCA announced on Wednesday. Atul Wassan, the chairman of selectors, confirmed to PTI that Rishabh Pant will be available for the first two matches before he will join the Test squad for the South Africa series.

India play South Africa in a three-match Test series starting October 2, that will see Rishabh miss matches for Delhi.
Surprisingly, there was no Shikhar Dhawan in the squad. Wassan confirmed to PTI that the left-handed batsman will be available for the later part of the league stage. Dhawan isn’t a part of the Test squad, having lost his place in the team last year.

Saini, the right-arm pacer who stayed with the Test side in West Indies, had missed out on selection for South Africa series with the pace department already filled up with likes of Japsrit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami.
He is expected to get a national call-up against Bangladesh, where selectors might rest regular pacers. At Delhi, he will share the new ball with Kulwant Khejroliya.

Dhruv Shorey will lead Delhi for the first time in the List A tournament. He had led Delhi in last year’s Ranji Trophy for a couple of games, that also included the retirement match of Gautam Gambhir.
In 2018/19, Delhi ended up as the runner-up in the List A tournament. The 2012/13 champions had lost to Mumbai in the final last year.

Delhi kick off their season against defending Ranji Trophy champions, Vidarbha. They will later face Haryana, Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Baroda and Himachal Pradesh their next league stage matches.
