Jose Mourinho Takes Dig At Antonio Conte’s Tactics Ahead Of FA Cup Clash

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has aimed a dig at Chelsea board by suggesting that he was surprised by the way the club have accepted Antonio Conte’s tactics this season.

The Portuguese tactician has changed Chelsea into a dominating force during his two spells and has helped them to a Premier League title in the 2014-15 season before being sacked just seven months after winning the title with the Blues.

Most of the club officials have accused Mourinho of playing negative football as they used to sit deep to defend as a unit before breaking away to score on the counter-attack.

However, the 54-year old has claimed that the current Chelsea team are playing in a similar way despite the success and Mourinho looked quite surprised as he returns to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea in FA Cup clash.

‘I’m not surprised [by Chelsea’s success]. I’m surprised with the way they play,’ Mourinho told BBC’s Football Focus.

“I’m surprised because I thought they were demanding a different kind of football.

‘I think they are very good defensively and I think they have fantastic players to be a counter-attack team and to kill opponents with three or four players.’

Manchester United and Chelsea have looked the two most in-form teams in England over the past six months and the clash between the two has been the major talking point in the country.

However, Jose Mourinho is expected to have a tough time with Chelsea set to go with a full team and the Red Devils will be without the experience of Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front as the Swede is currently serving his three-game ban for his elbow on Mings in Premier League last weekend.

Both the clubs are keen to win the prestigious league title despite Chelsea being the overwhelming favourites in the game. Manchester United have already won Community Shield and EFL Cup this season while Chelsea is leading the title race way ahead of every other club in the Premier League.

Chelsea Striker Diego Costa Opens Up on Training Ground Bust Up With Conte

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has revealed that the training ground row with manager Antonio Conte in January is “nothing” and criticized English media for over exaggerating the situation.

The Spanish striker was eventually left out of the Chelsea squad by Conte that travelled to Leicester City in January and the player was not seen in the training for nearly a week before making a comeback into the team.

Reports suggested that the duo has fallen out due to the back injury that Costa suffered as the striker has revealed to the medical team. He was then linked with a move to Chinese Super League in the January window.

However, things got sorted out between the manager and Costa as he is still their most prolific scorer this season and looks to finish very high in the goal scoring charts at the end of the season as the Blues are cruising to Premier League glory.

Speaking about the incident, Diego Costa told ESPN Brasil: ‘It was nothing. People here [in England] make up a lot of stuff.

‘Things happen, but I’m showing now that there’s nothing to it.

‘I’m playing and scoring goals, and that’s the important thing. Everyone knows that anything I say has bigger repercussions than what it was.

‘The manager is someone who works us really hard in training. He’s got his personality just like I’ve got mine and others have theirs, but the important thing is to show your personality in a way that benefits the team.

‘This is what’s happening. Everyone is on the same page and that’s the way we have to go.’

Costa is in sensational form as he scored his 18th goal of the season to inspire Chelsea to a 2-1 win against West Ham away as they extend their lead to 10 points at the top of the Premier League with just 11 games to go to the end of the season.

Conte Opens Talks With Inter Milan Over Record Move But Chelsea Prepared To Match the Offer

The summer transfer window at the start of the season saw a number of star names join the Premier League not just on the field but also in a managerial role.

While Jose Mourinho took over Old Trafford, Manchester City roped Pep Guardiola in but the biggest surprise of the season has been the progress of London outfit Chelsea under their new manager Antonio Conte.

The former Juventus and Italian national coach, Conte was expected to lift Chelsea, who finished 10th in the previous season closer to the top of the table. But the Italian has managed to lift the Blues close to the title in his first season at the club.

Conte spent on the likes of David Luiz, N Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso and Michy Batshuayi in the first transfer window in England and has got three of the four stars to cement a place in the starting XI.

Currently 10 point off Tottenham Hotspur in the 2nd place, Chelsea are hot favorites to win the title and the Stamford Bridge faithful will hope that he can help the club to some great heights in years to come.

However, they were dealt a huge blow earlier today after Italian news outfit Tuttosport came up with this story.

The Italian manager, who helped Juventus to some serious success is now wanted at the San Siro by Inter Milan with the club’s new Chinese owners determined to get him back to his homeland this summer.

It was reported that Conte is being offered £12.5m per year and the story also claims that the 54-year old has verbally agreed over a the move back to Italy.

Conte, who signed a 3-year deal with Chelsea worth £10m a year, is now ruling the Premier League and Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea owner is not ready to let him leave.

An exclusive from Express later in the day revealed that Chelsea are now making plans to tie him to the long term at the Stamford Bridge.

Just months after his signed for the club, Antonio Conte is now being offered a 4-year contract extension that will keep him with the club till 2021.

What’s more?

The Italian will now be offered wages equal to the highest earners in the league.

Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, both collect around £12m a year and Chelsea are now ready to offer Conte a similar deal to match the offer from Italy and keep him at the club.

Shocking! Conte Admits he Is Scared He Might Be Sacked At Chelsea

Manchester United’s League Cup victory has taken away the attention from the Premier League this weekend but Antonio Conte’s top of the table Chelsea kept their ruthless run going as they got the better of Paul Clement’s side at home on Saturday.

The Blues have opened up a 10 point gap over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2nd place in the points table and are currently on course to their second Premier League title in 3 years.

The Italian manager, who moved to the Stamford Bridge just this season, spent insane amounts of money on transfers and has been able to get most of them to play regularly this season.

He will be happy with the progress his team has made over the last few months and will know that they will have to stay strong to go all the way this season.

Shocking! Conte Admits he Is Scared He Might Be Sacked At Chelsea 3

With just 12 games left in the season, Chelsea need a miraculous loss in form to lost the title from here and this should make Conte a fan favorite at the Stamford Bridge.

Winning the league title in his first season is always a sign of the potential of the manager but as ruthless as the Premier League is, Conte revealed today that he fears for his position in London.

Speaking the media recently, Conte felt that they way Claudio Ranieri was sacked from the home of the Champions, shows that his place at the club cannot be taken for granted.

He said: ‘I think in this type of modern football, it’s not easy to start a project and to be sure you will stay a long time in the same team. But honestly not only for me, for all coaches.

‘If you have the possibility to stay for many years in the same team, then you can work to improve your idea, to improve your players, but the result in football is very important.

‘We all know this, and we know it can happen, that one season, you can win the title, the next season you can go away,’ he added.

Conte’s Italian compatriot Claudio Ranieri, was sacked by the Foxes just months after he provided the club with a fairy tale and probably the best days in the history of the club.

He was expected to help Leicester City for years to come but lack of performances this season have seen him kicked out and Conte felt that it is a fate that he also will have to accept in the future.

In all fairness, Chelsea are known to chance managers quickly and if they are not able to replicate this form in the next season, Conte may well be under pressure, even before completing his 3-year deal at the club.

Twitter Lauds Chelsea After Another Impressive Win Over Swansea

Chelsea have managed to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League after yet another commendable win over Swansea City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have looked professional throughout the game as they dominated the display with some impressive football all around. The result meant Chelsea are inching closer to the Premier League title this season as they are now 11 points clear at the top of the league after none of the other four title rivals set to play a Premier League fixture this weekend.

The hosts have opened the scoring as Cesc Fabregas has capped his 300th Premier League appearance with a decent finish in the box. However, Chelsea were left shell shocked when Swansea City managed to draw an equalizer courtesy of an exquisite header from striker Fernando Llorente.

Chelsea have controlled the second half from the start and have moved to the lead as Pedro continued his incredible form. The hosts soon were into two goal cushion as Diego Costa scored within the six yard box.

The 2-1 win marked their tenth consecutive home win in the Premier League after their 1-2 defeat to Liverpool in September. Here we look at how twitter reacted after another dominating display by the London Blues as they inch closer to winning Premier League.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea: Conte Pondering Over Big Changes!!

Manchester City, Manchester United and arsenal aren’t playing this weekend because of the League Cup final, so the Blues will be itching to keep the pressure on at the top of the table in their absence.

But they welcome a resurgent Swans side to Stamford Bridge, who have proved to be a tough oppponent for Chelsea over the past couple of seasons, having drawn two and lost one in their last three meetings.

In good news though, Antonio Conte has no major injury concerns ahead of the top flight contest.

Here is the team we think Antonio Conte could pick for the game:

GoalkeeperChelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea: Conte Pondering Over Big Changes!! 5

The Blues boss is expected to make plenty of changes to his starting eleven after resting some of his key for last weekend’s FA Cup win at Wolves. Thibaut Courtois has been suffering from gastroenteritis but the Belgian international is expected to recover to replace Asmir Begovic between the sticks.

Defence

David Luiz was given the weekend off last time out in order to rest his niggling knee injury but the Brazilian international has been managing the pain for several months so he’s expected to come back in to the side on Saturday.Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea: Conte Pondering Over Big Changes!! 6

Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill are also set for recalls with John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Nathan Ake all making way despite keeping a clean sheet last weekend.

Midfield

Conte is certain to bring N’Golo Kante back in to the starting eleven after he was given a well-earned breather last time out while Nemanja Matic is also in-line for a recall after not even being named in the squad against Wolves.Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea: Conte Pondering Over Big Changes!! 7

Therefore, Nathan Chalobah and Cesc Fabregas will make way but Victor Moses should keep his place on the right while Marcos Alonso is expected to come back in on the left side of midfield.

Attack

Eden Hazard and Diego Costa both started against Wolves and they are likely to keep their places in attack this weekend while Pedro could move back in to a more advanced role after playing out on the wing last time out.Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea: Conte Pondering Over Big Changes!! 8

Willian is the man most likely to make way so the Brazilian attacker will join the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Fabregas on the bench.

Chelsea Star Takes A Cheeky Dig At Jose Mourinho, Backs Antonio Conte

Eden Hazard has launched a subtle dig at Jose Mourinho by claiming that this season under Antonio Conte is his ‘best moment’ since he joined Chelsea.

Hazard was a key figure in the Blues’ title success under Jose Mourinho in 2014-15, but, along with many of his team-mates, was hugely disappointing last season, as a collective downturn in performance levels saw the Portuguese manager sacked in December and the team ultimately finish a distant 10th.

The west London side have responded emphatically following the arrival of former Juventus and Italy coach Antonio Conte, sitting eight points clear in first place.

And the contribution of Belgium international Hazard has been a big reason for their march back to the top of the standings.

“Last season everyone knows I was not good enough,” he said.

“But you learn from your mistakes. I gave everything to come back and now I am in my level.

“So I started this season well – fit, with no injuries and it is better to play when you are ready. I want to enjoy being on the pitch. So this is the key.

“It is always a difficult to come back after a bad season, but the boss changed something and tried to give us more confidence.

“This is the best moment for me at this club since I’ve been here. I’m happy.”Chelsea Star Takes A Cheeky Dig At Jose Mourinho, Backs Antonio Conte 9

Hazard was named Premier League Player of the Season and PFA Players’ Player of the Year in 2014/15.

Next up for Chelsea is a league match at home to Swansea City on Saturday.

Huge! Chelsea To Reward Conte’s Excellent Season With a Contract Extension

Antonio Conte’s debut season in the Premier League is going better than planned as his Chelsea side are running away with the Premier League title, having opened up a 8 point gap at the top of the table, with just 13 games to go.

They are also active in the FA Cup, giving Conte another shot at silverware and are sure to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Keeping the struggles of the other team aside, Chelsea, have done extremely well this season and Antonio Conte’s summer signings have a lot to do with it.

The likes of Marcos Alonso, David Luiz and more importantly N Golo Kante, have all played major roles in this title run in for the Blues and their performances might reward the manager in the upcoming days.

Huge! Chelsea To Reward Conte's Excellent Season With a Contract Extension 10

According to a story from Transfer Market Web, Chelsea are now ready to offer Antonio Conte a new bumper deal to keep him at the club for years to come.

Roman Abramovich, the owner of the Stamford Bridge outfit, is known to not place his faith in managers, constantly changing them, but he will be thrilled by the way Antonio Conte has started his life in London.

The former Juventus manager has lifted the Blues from 10th place in the previous season to the top this season and the fans, pundits and the owners of the club are in unison that he should be offered an extension on his current contract.

There are a few European clubs who are looking for top class managers to replace their current gaffers in the summer and Chelsea want to act fast and want to tie Conte with the club for the long term.

Huge! Chelsea To Reward Conte's Excellent Season With a Contract Extension 11

The 47-year old is currently contracted with the club till 2019, as he signed a 3-year contract at the start of the season.

And the report claims that he has already put pen to paper on another 3-year contract on improved wages.

This new contract will keep Conte at the club till 2020, and is a 1-year extension on his original contract with the club.

The manager started the season in decent fashion but back to back losses to Liverpool and Arsenal saw Conte change his system, turning Chelsea into an astonishingly well-drilled side.

Ever since, Chelsea have lost to Tottenham Hotspur, their local rivals and have drawn just 4 games in all competitions and they will hope that he can keep up with the good work for years to come.

Antonio Conte Confirms One Chelsea Player Is Leaving This Summer

Chelsea could be set to lose promising youngster Dominic Solanke in the summer, Antonio Conte has admitted.

Solanke has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool after contract negotiations with the Blues broke down with the club not willing to meet the youngster’s demands. The much lauded 19-year-old striker reportedly asked for a £50,000 a week deal and a guarantee of regular playing time, something that the West London club couldn’t agree to.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte admitted that Solanke’s departure seems inevitable, per the Mirror’s John Cross.

Solanke spent last season on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem where he netted seven goals in 26 total appearances and the promising young striker clearly harbours ambitions to play regularly at the top level based on those performances.Image result for Dominic Solanke

However, with Chelsea’s surfeit of attacking talent, he hasn’t been able to break into the first team this season and has made it clear to family and friends that he wants to sign with Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s uninhibited desire to give young players regular opportunities is certainly an attractive prospect for Solanke and the Reds could use more attacking talent, so could this be a perfect match?

Youngsters like Kelvin Stewart, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Ovie Ejaria have all been given chances in the league this season.

Solanke hasn’t  been able to break into the senior squad at Chelsea and has not played for the first team since his debut in the UEFA Champions League against NK Maribor back in 2014. This lack of action coupled with his rather outlandish wage demands have led to the overall feeling around the club that Solanke will move on this summer.

Liverpool could be the perfect scenario for Solanke, but one does feel that he may have to get a little more realistic about his wage bracket.
