Thierry Henry Set To Become Bordeaux Manager

France legend Thierry Henry is set to start his managerial career as he said yes to become Bordeaux’s head coach.

Henry is likely to start his managerial career.

According to reports, Henry has agreed to manager the Ligue 1 club. The final decision now rests with the club’s new owners General American Capital Partners (GACP).

Gus, Poyet, who was the current manager of Bordeaux has been sacked on Friday after he openly criticised the board for the handling of the transfer market. Despite the manager was in under contract, he has effectively been pushed out of his role. And now club is looking to appoint a high profile coach.

Jurgen Klinsmann and Laurent Blanc, who previously won Ligue 1 with Bordeaux, are two names who were linked with the post. However, Henry has emerged as the top choice.

The Arsenal legend was highly linked with the Egypt national team. But Henry denied the rumours after few days. However, it looks he is now closer than ever to become the manager of the Ligue 1 club.

Earlier, Bordeaux tried to offer Zinedine Zidane the opportunity to cut his teeth as a coach. But now GACP, who take control of the club in September, will now make the final.

Henry is currently the assistant coach of Belgium and his side was the semi-finalist of the World Cup in Russia. He is now interested to take on a new challenge and is now only waiting for a green signal from the GACP.

Meanwhile, the former French forward wished to know about the funding he will have to strengthen the squad. And whether he’d have flexibility in the market. He has already been in touch with former staff at Bordeaux in order to assess the current state of the team.

Malcom Saga: Barcelona Completes Signing of Brazil Sensation

Barcelona have completed the signing of Brazilian sensation, Malcom from Bordeaux after an epic drama throughout the last two days.

Roma almost signed Malcom before Barcelona targeted the Brazilian.

The youngster has signed a five-year contract at Camp Nou, and it cost €41 million (£36.5m/$48m).

It was announced on Monday that an agreement had been reached to take the 21-year-old to Serie A. Barcelona made a stunning late move for Malcom, as he closed on a switch to Italy. Barca have now got their man, with a statement on the club’s official website reading,

“FC Barcelona and Girondins de Bordeaux have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira. The operation will cost 41 million euros and 1 million in variables. The player will sign with the club for the next five seasons, until the end of the 2022-23 season.”

Malcom has signed for Barcelona.

Malcom is an attacking player with a great future ahead of him. He stands out due to his electrifying pace and his technique with the ball at his feet.

He is daring, pacey forward with an ability to shoot from a distance. Despite being left-footed, the Brazilian is no slouch with his right also and can play on either flank.

He has mainly operated on the right-hand side so far in his career to great success, attacking defenders and getting into the box at every opportunity. Aside from his speed, the Brazilian has a great technical ability and links up well with his teammates, one of the main aspects of Barça’s football.

Malcom moved to Europe with Bordeaux at the age of 18. He already tasted title success in his native Brazil with Corinthians. He made 96 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, netting 23 goals.

Malcom Saga: Roma Sporting Director Explains What Happened

Roma Sporting director, Monchi revealed what happened since the last one week after the Malcom saga came to an end.

After Malcom’s agreement with Roma, Barcelona hijacked the deal.

Bordeaux announced on Monday a deal, reported to be €38 million, had been agreed with the Serie A side. But soon after the Ligue 1 side’s statement was released, Barcelona’s interest emerged. The La Liga champions moved to complete a deal worth up to €41m (£36.5m/$48m) on Tuesday.

Monchi said to RomaTV,

“I am very sorry for what has happened. But I believe that we had a complete agreement with Bordeaux. And then offered even more than that to get it done again. President Pallotta made the decision to make the best offer possible. But when the negotiation became an auction, we decided to withdraw from it. If someone wants to come to Roma that is great, but ultimately if they do not want to come to Rome, then we do not want them.”

“I want to tell our fans that we are continuing to work hard. We are working to identify a player that wants to come to our club and is the equal or even better than Malcom.”

Monchi also said that his side wants to file a legal case.

“Now, within the club, we are looking at our options and seeing if we have a legal case. It is true that nothing was signed. But there are many messages with the agents and their president that are at least worth being assessed.”

The sporting director also explained that they are unhappy with the way Bordeaux handled the deal.

“We started negotiation with Bordeaux and the player, through his agent. More or less a week ago. After three of four days of intensive negotiations, yesterday at about 17:00, we found an agreement with the agent, with the player and with Bordeaux.”

In the end, what happened,

“I called Martin. He told me that an offer had come in from Barcelona that was better than ours. And, that if we did not raise our offer we could not have the player. I told him that we had an agreement, we had made the deal, but he said that nothing had been signed and that. Despite, having exchanged some documents to be signed, nothing could be done.”

Bordeaux suffer fifth straight road loss in Ligue 1

Paris, Dec 2: Wesley Said’s late goal handed Bordeaux their fifth straight away loss in Ligue 1 football championship as they lost against Dijon 2-3 in the 16th round action.

Dijon on Friday replaced Bordeaux on the 10th position with 21 points. Bordeaux were one place behind on 20 points, reports Xinhua news agency.

Bordeaux saw their advantages erased twice in the match featuring two mid-table sides. After Jonathan Cafu broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, Dijon got the match back on Cedric Yambere’s header on 34 minutes.

Bordeaux got the upper hand again two minutes later, as 20-year-old Malcom witnessed his long-range strike hit the target.

Trailing by 1-2 into the second half, Dijon had their response in the 52nd minute from Benjamin Jeannot.

Said made it harder to bite for Bordeaux when he converted Xeka’s pass into the winner with just three minutes remaining.

Paris Saint-Germain, who possessed a 10-point advantage atop the table, will visit promoted sides Strasbourg on Saturday.

Montpellier Stun Nice, Bordeaux And Nantes Share Points In Ligue 1

Paris, Oct 16 (IANS) French football club Montpellier once again proved to be stoppers for last season’s leading sides with a 2-0 home win against Nice, while Bordeaux and Nantes finished in a 1-1 draw in Ligue 1.

Montpellier managed to remain unbeaten against last season’s top three finishers, following their successive draws against current leaders Paris Saint-Germain and defending champions Monaco on Sunday, reports Xinhua news agency.

Benjamin Lecomte kept the Montpellier goal intact as he made several fine saves in the first half, before former PSG player Stephane Sessegnon gave home fans every reason to celebrate on 55 minutes with a superb finish from 25 meters into the top corner of the net.

Two substitutes combined to double the lead for the “giant killers” in the 74th minute, when Junior Sambia intercepted the ball near his team’s box, moved forward, and unleashed Isaac Mbenza for a low shot from the left.

Nice slid to the 14th position and suffered their fifth loss in nine matches of the campaign, contrary to their three defeats in total last season.

Bordeaux skipper Jeremy Toulalan blocked his Nantes counterpart Leo Dubois’ shot, but the ball just fell in front of Prejuce Nakoulma, who grabbed the chance to sweep home in injury time of the first half.

Bordeaux’s Malcom levelled the score with his fifth league goal this season, as he beat Nantes goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu with a low shot two minutes into the second half.

Nantes, unbeaten in the last seven matches, were positioned fifth under Italian head coach Claudio Ranieri.

Later on Sunday, Marseille were held to a 3-3 draw by promoted side Strasbourg.

Paris Saint-Germain extended their gap over Monaco to six points, following a hard-fought 2-1 road victory over Dijon on Saturday.

Neymar Shines In PSG’s Romp Against Bordeaux

Paris, Oct 1 (IANS) Brazilian football star Neymar scored two goals and dished out one assist to help Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain crush Bordeaux 6-2 at home, while Amiens’ home encounter against Lille was postponed after barrier of the stand collapsed and more than 20 fans were injured.

Both sides came to the Parc des Princes with unbeaten records on Saturday. Although their perfect winning record was snapped by Montpellier last round, PSG players still felt pretty motivated, especially following their 3-0 home victory over Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League group match, reports Xinhua news agency.

Neymar, who set a record transfer fee of 222 million euros during the off-season, proved himself as early as five minutes into the match, as his brilliant free-kick beat helpless goalkeeper Benoit Costil.

Neymer provided a clinical cross for Edinson Cavani to slot his eighth league goal of the season seven minutes later, before Thomas Meunier built a three-goal lead for the hosts on 21 minutes.

Younousse Sankhare got one back for Bordeaux in the 31st minute, as he comfortably putt Nicolas de Preville’s cross into an empty net.

PSG didn’t seem to restrain their gunfire power. Neymar converted the spot kick from Otavio’s handball, and Julian Draxler made it beyond reach into the halftime with a superb volley on Kylian Mbappe’s cross.

The German fed teenage sensation Mbappe to fire in the second half. Malcolm scored a consolation goal for Bordeaux with a late penalty.

The barrier of the visiting fans stand at Stade de La Licorne, Amiens’ home stadium, collapsed in the 16th minute, as Lille fans celebrated Fode Ballo-Toure’s goal. After they fell on the pitch, some could return to the stand, while others remained on the ground for medical aid. Fans were then evacuated by security staff.

According to French media, 29 people were injured in the accident, among them five in serious condition.

The match was immediately halted. After consulting with both teams, the league’s representative on site decided to postpone the match.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Dijon tied Strasbourg 1-1, Guingamp finished a 1-1 draw against Toulouse, Nantes got past Metz 1-0, and Rennes lost to Caen 1-0.

Bordeaux Twice Waste Lead For 2-2 Draw With Saint-Etienne

Paris, May 6 (IANS) Bordeaux’s contest for a top-four finish was dealt a blow as they wasted the lead twice to record a 2-2 draw with Saint-Etienne in the 36th action of Ligue 1.

Bordeaux were three points adrift fouth-ranked Lyon, who were awarded a victory due to Bastia fan violence a day earlier. Saint-Etienne remained seventh, five points shy of Marseille with a game in hand, reports Xinhua news agency.

Both sides had the opportunity of clinching a berth in next season’s Europa League. On Friday, the visitors built a lead on Adam Ounas’ penalty in the 42nd minute, before Saint-Etienne tied the game at 1-1 shortly before the interval, thanks to Robert Beric’s second goal in three league games.

Gaetan Laborde put Bordeaux up for the second time in the 50th minute with a shot from close range, while being denied again by Vincent Pajot’s successful attempt later.

On Saturday, defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, trailing leaders Monaco by three points, will host bottom side Bastia. Monaco, having played one less game, will visit another relegation-threatened side Nancy.

Bordeaux Defender Pablo Ready For Corinthians Loan Spell

Rio de Janeiro, Jan 16 (IANS) Bordeaux central defender Pablo has described his return to Brazil as an opportunity to jumpstart his career as he begins a one-year loan spell with Brazilian football club Corinthians.

“Corinthians are a huge club and I’m going to give all that I’ve got,” the 25-year-old told reporters upon arriving on Sunday, reports Xinhua news agency.

“I am very happy because it’s a great opportunity for me.”

Pablo was signed by Bordeaux from Brazil’s Ponte Preta in 2015 but has fallen out of favour under the French club’s current manager Jocelyn Gourvennec.

Despite not knowing what his future holds beyond this year, Pablo said he has been buoyed by the support of Corinthians fans on social media.

“It’s great to know that the fans are behind me. I was out of Brazil for a year and a half. Now I hope to be able to show them what I’m capable of and contribute the best I can.”

Pablo is Corinthians’ sixth signing since December as they rebuild their squad after finishing a disappointing seventh in last year’s Brazilian Serie A championship.

Among the newcomers are former Brazil international striker Jo and Turkey international forward Colin Kazim-Richards.

The Sao Paulo side have also confirmed they are in talks to sign former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Monaco Go Top Of Ligue 1 With Falcao Hat-Trick

Bordeaux (France), Dec 11 (IANS) Radamel Falcao netted a hat-trick on Saturday to help Monaco win 4-0 in an away match against Bordeaux and reach top of Ligue 1 football standings.

The Colombian striker bundled in Valere Germain’s cross to make it 2-0 in the fourth minute after Djibril Sidibe opened the scoring on just two minutes here on Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Falcao’s second goal was also set up by Germain, who found him out from the right flank with a pass on 50th minute.

And 14 minutes later, Falcao, who is thriving at Monaco after two unsuccessful seasons on loan at English club’s Manchester United and Chelsea, slotted in a penalty after midfielder Bernardo Silva was fouled.

With five goals in two games, Falcao has tallied 10 in 13 league matches so far, even though four of those appearances have been as a substitute.

Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim took Falcao off with 20 minutes left, two minutes after the home side was down to 10 men after midfielder Adam Ounas was sent off for a crude foul on fullback Djibril Sidibe.

With the victory, Monaco side moved to the top of the French top flight football on goal difference, ahead of Nice, who play defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.

The 19-year-old central midfielder poked in a cross from winger Florian Thauvin in the sixth minute. Midfielder Mehdi Abeid equalised for Dijon but Bafetimbi Gomis netted a late winner for his eighth of the season.

It was the first time Marseille won consecutive league games this season, which helped them climb up to the eighth spot.

In other Ligue 1 games on Saturday, Toulouse beat bottem side Lorient 3-2 and moved up to the seventh place, Lille downed Montpellier 2-1 to climb up to mid-table, Nancy beat Angers 2-0 at home, and Corsican side Bastia won against Metz 2-0.

The game between Nantes and Caen was called off because of thick fog.

Shocking- Manchester United, Bayern Munich scout Ligue 1 striker as deadline day looms

Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan despite no potential bid expected this summer.

The 23-year old is one of the fine strikers in French league and have attracted interested from a number of clubs across Europe.

Jose Mourinho who have already made some world class signings this summer is expecting a quite last few days in the transfer window as the Red Devils are not interested in making more moves this summer after spending a massive £150 million already.

A number of players are expected to leave Old Trafford before the end of transfer window but Mourinho is keen to keep a close eye on his targets going into the season.

The new manager has sent Manchester United scouts to watch Diego Rolan, according to French radio station RMC. The Uruguayan has scored the only goal in the 1-0 win against Nantes as he is building on his growing reputation.

Earlier in the summer, Everton have also showed their interest to sign the talented striker but the deal could not be done as the Merseyside club was unwilling to meet the £16.9 million asking price of Bordeaux.

European giants Bayern Munich are also keeping a close eye on the striker as they look to have a back up for Robert Lewandowski. Norwich and Brighton were also in attendance as a number of clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on the talented 23-year old striker.
