It’s been five years since the last T20I World Cup. The world has undergone massive change since 2016 when West Indies became the first-ever team to win two T20 World Cups. The marquee event was to be held last year too (in Australia) but for the coronavirus pandemic that made it nearly impossible for a tournament of that profile to be held under the circumstances.

ICC after holding discussions with its stakeholders arrived at the decision that the 2020 edition will now be held in 2022 in Australia but the 2021 edition will remain in India. But the global body stumbled upon another roadblock. The coronavirus pandemic continued to rage with India one of the worst affected countries. Again, the stakeholders met and eventually decided to shift the venue to Oman and UAE but the hosting rights remained with BCCI.

Here’s a full list of Indian fixtures at ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

CPL 2020: Organisers Are Confident With Original Schedule

Though the COVID-19 or coronavirus is dominating the world, the organisers of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) still believe that the CPL 2020 will run as per plan.

The busy daily routines in the world have been stopped in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak. More than 14,000 people have lost their lives in coronavirus cases, while more than 340,000 people have been affected in this case. Due to the continuous rising of the affected people, some countries are currently going through almost the complete lockdown process.

Observing the present situation, the present and forthcoming sports events have been postponed, and most importantly, there is no timeline at present to return to the normal position. The entire world is monitoring the whole situation in global.

CPL believes it is too early to make such a decision for CPL 2020

Initially, the eighth CPL or CPL 2020 has been scheduled between 19th August and 26th September 2020. Though the present worldwide situation is not in a strong position, the organisers believe that they have enough time to make any changes in the schedule in future if required. But at present, while the organisers are planning to organise the CPL 2020 as per the schedule, they are also looking at alternative plans to prepare for the worst.

According to the press release, CPL stated, “CPL has been in constant communication with our medical advisors in recent weeks, as well as speaking with Cricket West Indies about the current situation with regard to cricket around the world, and at present there has been no discussion about moving the event.

“CPL believes it is too early to make such a decision, but this is an evolving situation and we are carefully watching how events unfold in the Caribbean and around the world.

“At present the CPL team are planning for the tournament to take place as scheduled while also looking at alternative plans should they be needed.”

TKR, Trinbago Knight Riders

A total of six teams will participate in the CPL 2020. These teams are Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, St Lucia Zouks and Trinbago Knight Riders. The BCCI had already announced the starting date but had delayed the scheduled due to the unclarity over the date of the upcoming general elections. But on Tuesday, the board released the schedule of the first 17 games while the whole schedule is still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates.
