iii) Shikhar Dhawan has scored 5182 IPL runs.

  • Surpassing Rohit Sharma (5162 runs), Shikhar Dhawan became the fourth most run-scorer in IPL history.

Kagiso Rabada

  • It is the most wickets for a Delhi Capitals bowler in an IPL season. Their previous record was 25 wickets by Morne Morkel (IPL 2019) and Kagiso Rabada (IPL 2012).
  • It is the second most wickets for a bowler in an IPL season. The record is 32 wickets by Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings) in IPL 2013.

In the first game on Saturday (24th October), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thrashed Delhi Capitals (DC) by 59 runs at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).

After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl first. KKR scored 194/6 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. In reply, Delhi Capitals managed to score 135/9 (20 overs).

On Friday (23rd October) evening, the reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) thrashed their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 10 wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).

Chennai Super Kings were sent to bat first after the stand-in Mumbai Indians captain Kieron Pollard won the toss. At the end of the first innings, CSK only managed to score 114/9 (20 overs). Later, Mumbai Indians chased down that target in 12.2 overs without losing any wicket.

  • It was the third-best bowling figures for a Mumbai Indians bowler against Chennai Super Kings. The top two records in this list are 5/18 by Harbhajan Singh (at Mumbai on 22nd April 2011) and 5/32 by Lasith Malinga (at Johannesburg on 20th October 2012).

On Thursday (22nd October) evening, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) claimed a big eight-wicket victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai).

SRH captain David Warner decided to bowl first after winning the toss. While Rajasthan Royals managed to score 154/6 (20 overs), SRH chased down that target successfully in 18.1 overs after losing only two wickets.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) claimed a big win on Wednesday (21st October) night after registering a thrashing eight-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).

After winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan decided to bat first but his team only managed to score 84/8 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. Royal Challengers Bangalore chased down that target in 13.3 overs after losing two wickets.

On Saturday (17th October) evening, Delhi Capitals (DC) reached the top spot in the IPL 2020 points table after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).

  • Kagiso Rabada became the second Delhi Capitals bowler to pick up 50 IPL wickets. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra was the first bowler to achieve this feat for his team as he has taken 100 IPL wickets for this team.
  • Kagiso Rabada became the third Delhi Capitals bowler to claim 50 T20 wickets. Their other two bowlers are Amit Mishra (104 wickets) and Morne Morkel (51 wickets).

  • It was the third century in the IPL 2020. The first two centuries in this IPL season were 132 not out by KL Rahul (Kings XI Punjab) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (at Dubai, DSC on 24th September 2020) and 106 by Mayank Agarwal (Kings XI Punjab) against Rajasthan Royals (at Sharjah on 27th September 2020).
  • It was the second century by a Delhi Capitals batsman against Chennai Super Kings. Their other century was 105* by AB de Villiers at Durban on 23rd April 2009.

i) South African cricketer Faf du Plessis has scored 2215 T20 runs for CSK.

  • Faf du Plessis is the most T20 run-scorer as an overseas batsman for CSK. During this match, he surpassed the former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey, who scored 2213 T20 runs for this team. Meanwhile, Du Plessis is now the third most T20 run-scorer for this team, only behind of Suresh Raina (5369 runs) and MS Dhoni (4443 runs).

ii) South African cricketer Faf du Plessis has scored 2004 IPL runs for CSK.

  • Faf du Plessis is the first overseas batsman to score 2000+ IPL runs for CSK.
  • Faf du Plessis is the third cricketer to score 2000+ IPL runs for CSK. Indian cricketers Suresh Raina (4527 runs) and MS Dhoni (3994 runs) were the other two names in this list. 

 

Ravindra Jadeja – 1st Indian to record 1000 IPL runs and 50 IPL wickets for same team

On Friday (16th October) night, the reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) comfortably beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets (with 19 balls remaining) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).
