IPL 2020, Final: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals (MI vs DC) – Toss Report

Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. They have maintained their last winning combination.

Iyer said, “We’ll bat. It really worked out pretty well in the last game. When you have a really good total on the board the bowling gets a lot of confidence. We’ve seen it through the tournament and in a big final runs on the board helps The wicket also looks amazing to bat on. They have been champions through the years and even the way they’ve been playing this season. We have nothing to lose, we havr to embrace it and have no regrets at the end of it. The team atmosphere is really motivated, we are in a good mood and have to enjoy the day. We are sticking with the same team.”

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma confirmed their only alteration in the playing XI as Jayant Yadav replaced Rahul Chahar.

Rohit said, “To be really honest I was very confused, so don’t mind losing the toss. It is going to be a good track, it doesn’t change much. We have to bowl aggressively at the start and then see how it goes. It feels nice to be part of another final. It is going to be a cracker of a game. The past doesn’t matter, it is a fresh day, a fresh game and the pressure of this final will be different. But the guys have been in these pressure situations before, they understand the pressure of finals and yes, we have just got to treat this as another game.

“Hopefully we can execute what we’ve discussed on the field. Everyone’s fit, but just one chance — Rahul Chahar misses out and Jayant Yadav comes in. Just a tactical move considering the amount of left-handers they have in the side. Rahul has been bowling really well for us so sad to leave him out, but Jayant is a quality bowler as well.”

We felt it’s not that easy to bat in the first innings and that’s the reason behind the decision.. No pressure. I told my players to just go and enjoy as we are not sure when we are gonna play next. We just want to keep playing. One change for us. Priya Punia is out and Pooja Vastrakar is in.”

On the other hand, Trailblazers captain Smriti Mandhana confirmed that they made only change in the playing XI. Nuzhat Parween replaced Dayalan Hemalatha.

Iyer said, “We had two outings against SRH and I think this is a better outfield to bat against them. Putting on a good total would be a responsibility, and it’s a good surface too. You have to take the positives, and do the homework right and I think we have done that well. Rashid is an amazing bowler who can change the game. We have to be aware of him and play smartly. Pravin Dube and Hetmyer come in. It’s important to keep things simple, and it’s only a matter of executing our plan today.”

On the other hand, SunRisers Hyderabad captain David Warner confirmed that they have maintained their last winning combination.

Warner said, “We would have bowled first, so happy with the toss. You can see a few indentations on the pitch too and hopefully we can take some early wickets in the powerplay. We are supposed to win close games, and that was a kick in the backside to perform and we have performed well since then. Everyone knows their roles in the team. It’s a new wicket, new game, different kind of pressure. We have no changes, Wriddhiman Saha has a hamstring tear, so we’re playing the same team as the last game.”

Warner said, “We will bowl first. Dew could play an effect, the last couple of games say so. But the wicket will not change a lot. We are under no pressure, it already started a couple of games back. Unfortunately, Saha misses out with an injury, Goswami replaces him. The trophy means a lot for us, the owners and the fans back home.”

Kohli said, “It could go both ways, we would have bowled first. But runs on the board could prove crucial. The last game opened up completely, when you haven’t qualified, the nerves will come. It’s an exciting time, it’s been a leasure to play here. The seniors will have to take up responsibility, let the youngsters play freely. Chris Morris misses out with a quad injury, Joshua Phillipe is out as well. Aaron Finch is back, so is Adam Zampa. Saini replaces Shahbaz Ahmed”

It played nice and slow the other day, even though it was another pitch, so even though there is some sheen on it, I think it will be a little slow early on so we’d like to capitalise on that. IPL 2020, Match 55: Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (DC vs RCB) – Toss Report

Iyer said, “We will bowl first. Dew is going to play a massive role. Looking at the previous games the surface was a belter. This track is also looking amazing to bat on. So chasing we would be having a certain total in our mind and we would be having a clear idea on the run rate as well – considering those factors we decided to bowl.

“We have three changes – Rahane, Axar and Sams come in. It’s a complicated situation to be in but IPL is such an amazing tournament to be in, it can surprise you any moment, I personally feel this is a great opportunity for us to get into second place. We will keep those things in mind and go in with that mindset.”

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli also confirmed that they made two changes in the playing XI. Shivam Dube and Shahbaz Ahmed have replaced Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Navdeep Saini.

Kohli said, “We have a couple of changes. Gurkeerat Mann misses out, Dube comes in to provide some fire power in the middle. Shahbaz Ahmed comes in for Saini. His webbing is still not right and he was struggling in the field. It is simple you try and win every game of cricket you play. The conversation never changes and you don’t take any game lightly. But this being a crunch game not a bad thing to be batting first and putting runs on the board, we would have liked to bowl as well. Pressure in big games can be a funny thing. Whatever total you get the other team has to chase it.

“We have to play good cricket, consistently we have done well, we have had a few bad games which is acceptable and in a tournament like this it is competitive, but we still have good spirits as a side and looking forward to this encounter today. We have been in this situation before, the three finals we played before we probably had to go through like this in all those editions.

“The mindset was simple win the game, move ahead and you don’t think of other possibilities. It is basically how you play on the day, the result pans out in a certain manner, and if you have not played well then you don’t deserve to be in a situation where you expect other teams to do something else. It is all up to the two teams today and how they executed their plans.”
