A gimmick match has been inserted into the match card of AEW All In 2023 featuring the legendary Sting. The WWE Hall of Famer return to AEW TV, last night to set up the stage for a Coffin Match that’s now been made official for the London event.
During the latest edition of Dynamite, Darby Allin came out to confront Strickland and the Mogul Embassy faction. Strickland praised his faction for a bit before preparing to launch an attack on Allin. As Allin prepared for a fight, the lights in the arena went out and when they were back, Sting was seen standing in the ring with his trademark baseball bat.

Sting returned on AEW Dynamite
Mogul Embassy was seen scattered while Allin and Sting scared them away. Only Strickland remained in the ring as the rest of his faction left him. At this point, Sting raised his bat to the AEW All In 2023 advertisement raised in the arena to issue a challenge while no promo was delivered from him.
Afterward, AEW officially announced by a graphic that Darby Allin and Sting will be taking on Swerve Strickland and AR Fox in a tag team match at AEW All In 2023. Furthermore, the stipulation was also announced as it will be a Coffin Match. It’s similar to the Casket Match made famous by The Undertaker where the only way to win is to put your opponent into it and close the lid.
Sting was long speculated to announce retirement at AEW All In 2023 but that won’t be the case. He hasn’t been seen in a match since the end of June when he teamed with Allin to defeat Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara in a tornado tag team match.
