Since the announcement of AEW Collision, the show was speculated to be all about CM Punk, and going by the debut episode those should be true. As confirmed this week by AEW President Tony Khan, the former Straight Edge Leader will not only make his return on the debut episode of AEW’s third show but he will also feature in the main event match.

During the latest episode of Dynamite, Khan announced that CM Punk will feature in the main event of the June 17 debut episode of AEW Collision at the United Center in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. He will team up with AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) to compete against Bullet Club Gold members Jay White, Juice Robinson, and the Ring of Honor World Television Champion Samoa Joe.

Heading into this week’s Dynamite, Fightful reporter Sean Ross Sapp revealed pitches for possible future opponents for CM Punk and the possible main event during the premiere episode of AEW Collison. CM Punk’s road to the debut episode of AEW Collision

Punk’s return at AEW Collision will excite the AEW fans without a doubt as he will be back inside the squared circle after a long wait of almost ten months. The last time he was in an AEW ring was in September 2022 at All Out, when he defeated then-AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.

Soon after that win, Punk was stripped of the title due to a triceps injury suffered during the match. It kept him out of action for the next several months. In addition, Punk was outrageous during the post-show words to the media which also led to a backstage altercation with The Elite. Even The Elite had to vacate their AEW trios tag team titles after that backstage fight. Following this, Punk’s difficulties with some members of the AEW locker room were out in public.

This also created uncertainties over his involvement in the debut episode of AEW Collision. But Khan and Co. ultimately were able to secure their biggest attraction for the show that will take place on June 17 in Chicago, Illinois, at the United Center.
