The anticipation is all-time high as AEW Collision prepares for its debut night within ten days from now. A major announcement from Tony Khan regarding the debut episode will be delivered during the latest episode. Initially, CM Punk wasn’t listed for the upcoming episode but as confirmed last week, he will be a part of this brand-new show.

The Second City Savior is all set to make his return in the debut episode of AEW Collision and the company has already people lined up for him in some top matches. During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that he heard a very interesting name about Punk’s possible opponent once he makes his comeback in AEW.

AEW Collision: Update On CM Punk’s First Opponent And Main Event Of June 17 Episode 1

He said that there is talk of having CM Punk vs. Jay White in a singles feud. The latter has recently shown up in AEW after his NJPW deal expired. There were some obvious rumors of WWE being interested in him which wasn’t the case as Jay White ended up with Tony Khans’ company instead. Now, he could be gearing up for a big-money feud in the imminent future on AEW Collision.

AEW Collision: Multiple pitches made for CM Punk’s returning opponent

In more updates to the situation on the SRS Backstage Report, Fightful Select’s own Sean Ross Sapp revealed pitches for possible future opponents and matches for CM Punk’s first program upon show-up on AEW Collision during the premiere episode.

According to Sapp, an idea was nurtured for AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) to take on the group known as Bullet Club Gold – Jay White and Juice Robinson. Plus, it was also confirmed that there have been “heavy pitches” for Punk to work with Chris Jericho and Ring of Honor Television Champion Samoa Joe upon returning on AEW Collision.

AEW Collision debut episode is set to take place on June 17 at the iconic United Center in Chicago, Illinois which is getting hyped up with the highly anticipated return of CM Punk in his hometown. AEW President Tony Khan will unveil the main event for the inaugural episode during the June 7 episode of AEW Dynamite. There’s no update on who will be seen in this much-anticipated matchup.
