With All In approaching closer, the women’s championship picture is expected to go through a major change on AEW Dynamite. A new champion was crowned on the latest installment of AEW’s flagship program which has also paved the way to commence new feuds over the title as the global UK event awaits within just four weeks.

As seen on the AEW Dynamite 200th episode, Hikaru Shida is back on top of the women’s division. In the main event of the latest bygone episode, she won the AEW Women’s World Championship for the second time by defeating Toni Storm, last night. Interestingly, the former champion was pinned, clean despite her heel antics and the ringside presence of Outcasts cohorts Saraya and Ruby Soho.

For Shida, this championship win on AEW Dynamite has arrived after more than two years since Britt Baker ended the record-setting first reign as AEW Women’s Champion at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May 2021. Back then, Shida held the title for 372 days to become the longest-reigning women’s champion. Besides, she also carried the AEW women’s division through the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic when shows used to be hosted in empty arenas and amid limited audiences.

AEW Dynamite: Hikaru Shida begins second reign as Women’s Champion

Now that Shida has become the champion once again on AEW Dynamite, she will likely enter the Wembley Stadium in London, England for the All In pay-per-view as the reigning AEW Women’s Champion. A crowd of approximately having the capacity of 80,000 fans is expected for the show in front of which, she’s expected to go through her first title defense. This appears to be in full contrast to the environment during her first reign amid almost zero fans during the pandemic era.

We also hope that Shida’s win will also change the booking over the AEW’s women’s division. A fan holding a sign reading, “Book the women’s division better” was spotted during last week’s AEW Dynamite which appeared like wildfire and even some of the top talents agreed to the poster.

Also with the loss on AEW Dynamite, Toni Storm wrapped up her second reign as the AEW Women’s Champion, after 66 days. Storm previously held the championship for 76 days in 2022 after the title was vacated by Thunder Rosa.
