MJF is the World Heavyweight Champion and he will soon learn about his next opponent through the AEW Grand Slam Title Eliminator Tournament. Following the latest episode of Dynamite and Collision, this Friday night’s Rampage will host a set of matches in the tourney to carry it through on AEW programming.

During this week’s Dynamite, AEW World Champion and ROH Tag Team Champion MJF and ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe had a face-off after their brawl at All Out. MJF mentioned how Joe pushed him into a wall when he was an extra in WWE. Per MJF, Joe did it because he knew he could get away with it, but that’s not the case in AEW.

Joe informed that he will enter the AEW Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament and win it to take the Title away from MJF. Afterward, a brawl broke out between the two and they had to be separated.

Following this segment, it was announced that Samoa Joe will take on old TNA rival Jeff Hardy in the AEW Grand Slam tourney and Jay Lethal will face Penta El Zero Miedo on this Friday’s edition of Rampage. The winners of those two matches will then meet in the semifinals the following night on Collision.

More matches set from AEW Grand Slam eliminator tourney at Collision

During last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Roderick Strong defeated Trent Beretta to advance to the next round of the AEW Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament while Darby Allin also defeated Nick Wayne to advance. These two winners will also square off on Saturday night’s Collision to book a spot in the final that’s set for next week’s Dynamite.

The winner of that match will get a shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. The champion MJF has gone through his most recent successful title bout at All In on August 27 against Adam Cole. Now, he is scheduled to defend the coveted belt in the main event of the AEW Grand Slam episode of Dynamite set for September 20 at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Going by the ongoing storyline between MJF and Samoa Joe, it’s likely that the latter will win the ongoing tournament to capture a world title match opportunity against The Salt of the Earth.
