ToggleCM Punk is just on the verge of his TV return in time for Forbidden Door 2023 scheduled for later this month. This gives the chance for the AEW creative team to insert him into the match card of the show by starting an impromptu feud. We now have an update on who could possibly be paired up against Punk to set up a dream match.
Top NJPW wrestler Kenta recently tweeted to say that he will is ready to face CM Punk for the right money. The organizers of the show may be ready to pay the price for the match to happen. Fight Select’s Sean Sapp dropped some interesting news behind the paywall by saying that AEW is planning for KENTA to work the Forbidden Door 2023 event,
“This week, NJPW star KENTA tweeted that he’d be interested in working the Forbidden Door if the money is right. It would appear that the money is right, because Fightful Select learned this week that the working plan was for KENTA to work the show. KENTA actually worked AEW Dynamite back in April 2021, teaming with Kenny Omega to face Jon Moxley and Lance Archer.”

Punk vs. Kenta being planned for Forbidden Door 2023
It was further added that a deal needs to fall in place to make CM Punk vs. Kenta a reality which is yet to be finalized. However, the plans are heavily being nurtured for Forbidden Door 2023 given how bitter history these two possess over the past two decades,
“This week, NJPW star KENTA tweeted that he’d be interested in working the Forbidden Door if the money is right. Punk vs. Kenta is an in-built feud due to their similar finishing maneuvers. They’ve taken shots at each other from time to time over the Go To Sleep finishing maneuver. Kenta was the originator of the move but it’s Punk who’s mostly performed the move and being the popular superstar, he’s credited for it. Now, the two can finally have a face-off over the issue at Forbidden Door 2023.
