The match card for the next cross-promotional event named Forbidden Door 2023 has gradually started filling up from last night. This event is going to be a joint venture of All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling promotions. One of the major title matches featuring two key players of the promotions was announced during the latest NJPW Dominion 2023 event.
Two months ago, New Japan-Pro Wrestling announced hosting a four-man tournament to determine the next challenger to Kenny Omega’s IWGP United States Championship. On June 4 during the Dominion PPV, Will Ospreay and Lance Archer met in the finals, and after the dust settled, it was Ospreay who stood as the winner and thus he also confirmed his bout against Omega at Forbidden Door 2023.

The bygone final match at Dominion was a back-and-forth outing, in which Ospreay prevailed after delivering a series of Hidden Blades to the front and back of his opponent. After the win, “The Aerial Assassin” quickly called out Omega, the reigning IWGP United States Champion.
In his promo, Ospreay mentioned that he was heading to Canada for the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 to seek redemption against Omega who defeated him to win the title at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January. Ospreay also previously revealed how he was gifted with a permanent scar on his back during that match.
After this segment, Will Ospreay vs. Kenny Omega II for the IWGP United States Championship was officially announced for the Forbidden Door 2023 event. Last year, Ospreay defended the same title against Orange Cassidy at the inaugural edition of the cross-brand show. As for Omega, this year will mark Omega’s first outing on this particular show which will also see Bryan Danielson in action in a dream match against “Rainmaker” Okada.

AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2023 pay-per-view will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 25th. As of this writing, two matches for the upcoming cross-promotional event have been announced as given below:

– IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Will Ospreay
