Bryan Danielson has been booked to compete in a dream match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 which certainly falls under the last hurrah in his wrestling career. This is a phase where one of the greatest technical pro wrestlers of all time is going through some selected matches and taking bumps if it’s absolutely necessary.

Thus far this year, “The American Dragon” has wrestled only seven TV matches. His last two matches were two gimmick bouts – Anarchy in the Arena Match at Double or Nothing and the Iron Man Match against MJF at Revolution. On February 8 AEW Dynamite episode, he competed against Rush in a Gauntlet so that he can get to MJF. Now, there’s uncertainty over his 8th match of this year at Forbidden Door 2023.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Bryan Danielson is rightfully having a limited in-ring schedule. The pro-wrestling veteran is “banged up,” as of late and there’s health concern over him which is the reason why he performs limited matches as well as spots in those.

Back at Double or Nothing, Bryan did only some limited spots in the Anarchy in the Arena match. Before that, he took a complete off from competition after going through a grueling 60-minute Iron Man Match for the AEW World Championship.

Fightful didn’t specifically mention whether Bryan’s injuries would be affecting his match against Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door 2023. At this point, the match is happening and Bryan doesn’t have any prohibitions going all out into the match.

However, Bryan had largely avoided physical contact in recent altercations as of late. While his in-ring activities are shortening, he’s reportedly been “heavily involved in creative in the first several weeks of AEW Collision.” Dave Meltzer previously reported that Bryan already has a lot of influence in AEW’s booking decisions which suggests that he could end up being a backstage producer in AEW.
