AJ Lee has a tremendous impact on WWE’s modern female performers. She spent only a few years in the wrestling circuit under the WWE banner which was more than enough to bring out her veteran instincts. During the low-key time of female wrestling during the Diva-days, she was the one to start a movement so that her colleagues can get more spotlight.

Moving forward, AJ Lee alongside her husband, CM Punk parted ways with the WWE and she wasn’t there to directly see the Women’s Evolution happening in the company. When Punk made his debut in AEW last year, many fans wanted his wife to follow his suit and join the biggest rival of WWE. However, she recently ruled out the chances of that happening due to a neck injury.

AJ Lee revealed the same in an appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette podcast where she also spoke about her relationship with the Chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon. Speaking about The Boss, noted how he reacted after she took the decision of moving on from wrestling. Apparently, Vince gave her best wishes and kept the door open for her.

“He was very kind,” AJ Lee said. “He was just like, ‘The door is always open if you want to come back,’ and that to me was — I don’t know, I know it’s different for some people, but to me, it was so important to go out on top, on my own terms.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

That point is considered to be the peak of AJ Lee’s six-year run in WWE where she racked up three WWE Divas Championship reigns including the first one that lasted 295 days. (Nikki Bella broke the record by holding the belt for 301 days and thereby becoming the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion). After having two more runs with the belt, AJ announced her retirement from WWE in 2015 as she was dealing with lingering injuries.
