Alberto Del Rio, a multi-time world champion in WWE history was indicted on Thursday by a grand jury in San Antonio, Texas over charges of an aggravated kidnapping case, according to the report on PWI Insider. This happened due to a previous case where he was the suspect of an assaulting case.
It was reported by wrestling media outlets back in May that Alberto Del Rio was arrested and subsequently charged with a second-degree sexual assault felony and aggravated kidnapping. Thursday’s court order sounded that the primary charge was of aggravated kidnapping but at this point, it is unclear if the sexual assault charge was another cause behind the indictment, as well.

For now, Alberto Del Rio is out on a $50,000 bond, but he is slated to appear in front of the court, as per the records. He was actually arrested on May 5th, 2020, as the victim complained to local authorities in San Antonio to reveal that the professional wrestler was angry at her after accusing her of infidelity. Rio was also allegedly physically assaulted her.
The female victim had also alleged that Alberto Del Rio “slapped her across the head” several times and “forced her to wear a dress and dance for him” after she denied any sort of infidelity. Furthermore, he also allegedly threatened to take the victim’s son and “drop him in the middle of the road somewhere.” Apparently, the Mexican Aristocrat was in some sort of relationship with the woman.
The FOX affiliate in San Antonio provided additional information on the case noting that Alberto Del Rio allegedly “tied the woman’s hands with boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and sexually assaulted her for several hours, using various objects.” Now, that he is indicted, future punishment could be heard for him.
A conviction for aggravated kidnapping, if punishable in the first degree, could lead to a jail sentence from 5-99 years or life imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $10,000, as per the law of the state of Texas. In case of accusations of convicting for aggravated kidnapping in the second degree, they could face anywhere from 2-20 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000. Perhaps, Alberto Del Rio could be facing one of the above-mentioned punishments as the court procedures carry on.
