Just like the rest of the matches of the Backlash pay per view event of WWE, this match was pretty predictable as well. And if somebody had any confusions about the match, Michael Cole made things clear when he said, “The odds are not in favor of the champion.” Everybody knows when he says such things.
This was one of the shortest matches of the night, naturally, it was really fast paced. From the very first minute of the match it was really fast and it was really difficult to take your eyes off of this match. Even though it was one of the worst matches of the night, arguably the worst one.
WWE Backlash 2023 – WWE United States Championship – Austin Theory Vs. bobby Lashley Vs. Bronson Reed
Fans might have expected Bronson Reed would have dominated the most part of the match in Backlash, but it was never a one man show. Even though Austin Theory looked the weakest in this match. He was just the perfect heel of the match, like he has always been.
This was the only match that would have been a little unpredictable but it became one of the most predictable match because of the Draft. Some fans were expecting Bronson Reed to win, but after he got drafted to RAW, and Theory went to SmackDown, it was pretty clear that he was not going to win. Theory good definitely take the title to SmackDown.
And why Bobby Lashley was not a favourite win this match? It was pretty simple, whoever takes the United States title away from Theory would definitely continue the feud with him for the title. Lashley and Theory already had a long feud last year, and there is a fat chance that they would have another feud at this moment.
Since Lashley was also going to SmackDown, people might have think that he could be the want to take the title with him on the blue brand. But as we mentioned above, it is not possible, and it would not be very appeasing to the fans either. So Theory winning the title here was a good decision.
Theory would be taking the United States title to Friday Night Smackdown and we hope to see some new feuds for the United States Championship in the blue brand of WWE, after all this is the reason why they organise draft, so that we get to see some fresh feuds.
