Zelina Vega challenged Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions 2020 and the next night on Monday Night Raw. On both occasions, she failed but the assumption was that she was about to get a strong push. However, that wasn’t the case as she was quickly released from the contract due to a breach of a third-party edict issued by Vince McMahon.
That late 2020 release stirred things up to a good measure which also sent a strong message to the roster members. There were some within the company that didn’t agree with the move of letting go of Zelina Vega, according to the reports of PWInsider. Some particular officials might have wanted to contact her again, leading to the return.

Those within the company reportedly pushed for an open line of communication with Zelina Vega. WWE executives also apologized and she eventually agreed to a new offer made to her to make the comeback to the company. It was said by the source that both the parties have come to a compromise and understood each other’s perspectives.
Zelina Vega returned on this past Smackdown
Thus, on Friday Night SmackDown, Zelina Vega made a surprise return where on-screen WWE Official Sonya Deville introduced her to be the new participant in the 2021 Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match on July 18. The returnee was also reportedly spotted backstage during last week’s SmackDown. She has joined Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, and Carmella.
Zelina Vega had been on Twitch who also possessed an OnlyFans account that she wanted to keep herself active in the professional wrestling circuit.
As mentioned above, WWE released her due to a breach of contract where WWE banned Superstars from opening accounts on third-party platforms. Soon after her WWE re-entry to the WWE, she deleted her “I support unionization” tweet that was sent out shortly after her departure.
As for Zelina Vega’s husband, Aleister Black (Tommy End), the source noted he is not back with the company after getting released, earlier this year. As previously mentioned by some sources, some WWE officials felt like Black’s release was premature, but there haven’t been any thorough discussions to bring him back. In late June, Black has signed a sponsorship deal with Hayabusa while he is also being rumored to join AEW.
