Former WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin who is the winner of the King of the Ring tournament of 2019 and the Money in the Bank winner of 2017 recently talked about his Happy Corbin character. He also revealed how we got this character.
Baron Corbin is one of the utility prospects of WWE who is becoming a star day by day. WWE had tried to push him every now and then but things did not worked out pretty well for him so far but it is not very late yet. He can definitely get a main event push anytime. And whatever role he was given he is doing excellently.
Baron Corbin Comments On His Happy Corbin Character
He has gone through a number of different gimmicks throughout is WWE career and in all of them he had been marvellously good. His current gimmick that he is playing right now is totally different from what he started to be. And from the very first day he is excellent in all the roles he was given.
Just a number of months ago he was playing the role of King Corbin and he was continuing this gimmick since winning the King of the Ring tournament in 2019. But he lost his crown and the match against Shinsuke Nakamura. After losing this match, he also lost all of his wealth and he was going through a terrible time.
Of course it was all kayfabe and it was one of the most fan favourite storylines of the Year. He was asking for financial support from everyone and most of the people was making fun of him because of his previous records.
But things took a drastic change after he had a good luck at the casinos. He became rich again and since then he is being addressed as Happy Corbin. This gimmick is completely different from everything he has ever been through. He is definitely do doing this role quite well but it could not be as famous as its his previous Poor Corbin gimmick.
Lot of fans are demanding the Poor Corbin back. There were even rumours that WWE is considering bringing that gimmick back. But there is a hard chance of scrapping this gimmick since it is reported that the Happy Corbin gimmick is the idea of Vince McMahon himself.
Baron Corbin who is the winner of the King of the Ring tournament of 2019 and the Money in the Bank winner of 2017 recently spoke to Ryan Satin’s Out Of Character podcast where he talked about his Happy Corbin character. He also revealed how we got this character. He said;
“That was 100 percent Vince. I heard it actually on Twitter. They were like, ‘WWE just copy wrote Happy Corbin.’ I was like, ‘What? That’s where we’re — what?’ And so like I was confused and I came and I asked and [they were] like, ‘Ah, we don’t really know what you’re talking about’ and then sure enough, a couple of weeks later, they’re like, ‘Hey, your name’s Happy Corbin now.’ I was like, ‘Huh, so Twitter knew before I knew?’
“And that’s how you find out about a lot of stuff. It’s so funny. So I had no idea, same with my music. I showed up to work and they’re like, ‘Hey, we’re gonna rehearse your entrance.’ I’m like, ‘It’s no different.’ They’re like, ‘No, you got new music’ and I was like, ‘Huh? Since when?’ Like, I had no idea, so it was just pretty funny. You got to be able to work on the fly a little bit.”
