WWE Legend Batista’s role as Drax the Destroyer garnered quite the attention in Hollywood. The popular character was admittedly coming to an end as he recently confirmed in an interview that the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie would be the final time he is slated to portray that role. There’s more to the story as Drax’s character isn’t going anywhere.
Batista spotted a report regarding the end of Drax and he logged onto Twitter to set the record straight. He will be 54 by the time the third volume of Guardians of the Galaxy movie releases. If this franchise continues he’s not looking forward to playing a saggy Drax in the upcoming projects. So the won’t be disappearing, but the actor will.
“Drax isn’t going anywhere. He just won’t be played by this dude! by the time G3 comes out I’ll be 54 yrs old for gods sake! im expecting everything to start sagging any second now,” Dave Bautista pointed out in the tweet.

Batista’s Drax is certainly a popular character in Marvel
James Gunn replied to Batista on that tweet to let him know that the original Drax character played by him can never be replaced, “There’s no Drax for me without you, buddy! You ARE the MCU’s Drax the Destroyer and, as far as I’m concerned, could never be replaced. And you have the right to do whatever you want with your acting choices!”
The former WWE Superstar replied to James Gunn and said, “And there’s no Drax for me without you brother! #EndOfAJourney I love you dude.”
This certainly is a twist in the tale which does point out the fact that Marvel might have more plans with the Drax character after the Guardians of the Galaxy part III is over. Only time will tell whether the fanbase of the movie is ready to see anybody else in the role of Drax the Destroyer. But Batista did use the #EndOfAJourney hashtag to affirm that his time is over.
The former World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke to JoBlo.com as he was promoting his new Army of the Dead film slated for a Netflix May 21 release. During the interview, Batista said how he wants to be a different type of actor than his predecessor, The Rock. He wants to showcase some acting skills in future projects which could be the reason that he may just opt to move beyond Drax.
