Bayley Discusses Her Heel Turn And How She Felt About It

But in 2019, WWE decided to turn her heel for the first time in her professional wrestling career. It was a difficult and different experiment. She was a fan favourite and it was not really easy to promote her as a heel. But she was really amazing in whatever role she was given.

She performed her heel persona so good that she became one of the most hated wrestlers in WWE from being one of the most loved wrestlers of the promotion. She is still playing her heel persona really well and she is considered as one of the most hated wrestlers in WWE right now.

Bayley who is also a former two times WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion recently spoke to BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani where she talked about her heel turn in WWE and she also discussed how she felt turning a villain for the first time in her professional wrestling career. He said;

“To me, it just felt natural (turning heel). What I was doing, that, at the time, felt unnatural to them (the fans) but I think it’s because I truly outgrew it, the character I was trying to portray because when I was ‘The Hugger’ in NXT and I was super fan favorite,” said Bayley.

“I really felt all these things, I really felt in awe to be in WWE, I felt in awe to be around all these superstars because I was a superfan growing up, you know? But as I got older and as I got more experience and I had won a championship, it’s like, alright, you’ve done these things. Get over it. Get over being excited about being here.

“You’ve been here for six years already so, I think they just didn’t feel that connection like they used to which is totally understandable because I didn’t either. I felt like it was time to just have a change.”
