WWE News: First Championship Match Announced For Clash Of Champions PPV
The first official rivalry for Clash of Champions was underway on Smackdown as we have received the next lineup for the women’s championship match from the blue brand. “A Moment of Bliss” took place in the show hosted by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. None other than Charlotte Flair was the special guest of the show who embarked on a speech about her win at Summerslam against Trish Stratus.
She mentioned while she was stealing the show, the Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley was making the title look irrelevant. No one talked about the match that she had with Ember Moon at Summerslam. Bayley soon appeared on the scene and received a challenge from Charlotte Flair so that the title become prestigious. She agreed to defend the title at Clash of Champions at Flair’s hometown Charlotte, North Carolina. Before going away, Bayley shoved Flair off her stool hinting that she is ready for the upcoming title defense.
Bayley won the Smackdown women’s championship at Money in the Bank pay-per-view event. She won the women’s division ladder match to grab the contract that guarantees a title opportunity. Later that night, she ended up exercise the clause and cash it in successfully on Charlotte Flair to become the new champion. Going forward, she had three back to back PPV title defenses.

Alexa Bliss turned out to be her first championship contender at Stomping Grounds. The rivalry continued even at Extreme Rules producing two title matches. Bayley won both those contests to move into Summerslam with a brand new rival in Ember Moon. Despite the athletic agility of the former women’s champion, Bayley successfully defended the title on August 11th.
As of now, WWE.com has officially announced the next championship defense for Bayley at Clash of Champions,
“At WWE Clash of Champions, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley will look to take her title reign to the next level in an intriguing matchup against nine-time Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Saying that it was time to restore prestige to the title, The Queen challenged the SmackDown Women’s Champion to settle the score at Clash of Champions, a challenge Bayley accepted by saying she was looking forward to shutting the nine-time champion up, before shoving her long-time nemesis off her chair and into a table on the set of Alexa Bliss’ talk show, embarrassing Charlotte.”
