Two times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T who is a former five time WCW World Heavyweight champion recently appointed out the difference between the battle between AEW & WWE and WWE and WCW from the 1990s.

The AEW is the newest Rivals of WWE and it looks like the newly founded promotion did not come to the world of professional wrestling just to be a secondary promotion to WWE. They are here to compete with WWE and be the best. They have signed some of the biggest names of professional wrestling today, the very day they signed CM Punk it was quite clear that WWE is going to have a tough competition.

Booker T Points Out The difference Between AEW/WWE Battle And The Monday Night Wars

But how different was this rivalry from the monday night wars? If we look closely, the rivalry is were quite similar from some aspects. AEW and WCW had a lot of things common in themselves. WCW brought in all the talents that were once created by WWE, from Hulk Hogan to Macho Man Randy Savage. We only big names that WCW created were Sting and Goldberg. During that time WWE depended on their homegrown talents.

AEW is doing quite a same thing. They have brought in all the big names from WWE and all their main event starts right now are created by WWE. They have not been able to make any big stars yet. However, there are stars who have shown high potentials, such as Derby Allin. But they are relying more on the big names that were created by WWE. Once again WWE is trying to rely on their homegrown talents.

Booker T who is a former five time WCW World Heavyweight champion recently spoke on his Hall of Fame Podcast where he appointed out the difference between the battle between AEW & WWE and WWE and WCW from the 1990s. He said;

“What I see different in this war than the war that went on back with WCW in the 90s is a bunch of these guys now, nowhere near past their prime or anything like that. All of these guys are really young guys.

“It’s not like a bunch of old guys coming over, taking a spot from one of the younger guys, or anything like that. When it happened back in the day, it was Hogan, Savage, Warrior, all of those guys were well into their 40s.

“Now guys are leaving in their 20s. That’s what is different about this war. AEW is building their roster with guys that people still want to see today.”
