Professional wrestling legend and two times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T who is a former five times WCW World Heavyweight Champion and a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion recently explained why Vince McMahon hired Sharmell in 2005.
Sharmell was quite famous for hard time in WWE that she had as a valet of her husband Booker T and also a part time wrestler. She mostly played a heel character along with her husband and her annoying character was really loved by the fans back in the time. She is not very much remembered nowadays but back in those days she was a very common name on the lips of professional wrestling fans.

But she made her professional wrestling debut way before she got married to Booker T. Her first professional wrestling appearance was back in 1999 as one of the Nitro girls in WCW, she was known as Storm during her run in WCW. She had a number of matches as well on the episodes of WCW Nitro and WCW Thunder but that are not very much remembered by anyone.
She was trained in the Ohio Valley Wrestling back in 2001-2002 and she made her WWE main roster debut after getting married to Booker T in 2005. She was a very annoying heel and fans love to hate her. She did her role excellently. After getting released from the WWE in 2007, she joined TNA Wrestling and she worked in Chennai for two years.
Booker T who is a former five times WCW World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw Podcast where he explained why Vince McMahon hired Sharmell in 2005. He said;
“I was at that point where it was time for me to slow down. Sharmell and I had just gotten married. I went through a divorce and I know what it’s like being on the road, and just for instance, having a family. I told Vince that I was going to take a step back from the company. He said, ‘Why would you want to do that?’
“ I said, ‘I think it would be best for my relationship, just getting married and what not.’ He said, ‘Why don’t we just hire Sharmell?’ I went in to quit and he’s talking about hiring Sharmell. That kind of solved the whole problem. I tell you, I did not imagine it working out the way it did.
“The King Booker thing, I think that evolved because of Sharmell, being a former Miss Black Miss America, as well as being my Queen. I’ve always called her my queen. In front of all my friends, she’s my queen.
“I think they thought, ‘Why don’t we do the King of the Ring and make Booker the King and have a King and Queen.’ I give her all the credit for making that happen. I’ll tell you this. I couldn’t have been the King that I was without Queen Sharmell. It would have never worked out.”
