But he suffered a deadly injury during a match against Goldberg which ended his in ring career forever. It was a heart breaking incident that a wrestler like Brer Hart had to retire early due to injury. Nobody ever expected that he would ever return to action, neither anybody expected he could ever return to WWE.

But both things happened. He returned to WWE and he also made his returned to in ring action. In 2006 before WrestleMania 22, Hart finally buried the hatchet with WWE and he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on the same year. He also made his return to action at WrestleMania XXVI, against another than his biggest rival Vince McMahon.

He kept on having a number of matches after that and he even won the WWE United States Championship. Even though he was completely out of touch and he could not wrestle like his prime. His opponents had to protect him throughout. Soon he went to retirement once again.

“The Hitman” Bret Hart who is a former five times WWE World champion recently spoke to  The Ringer where he looked back at his first WWE World title win back in 1992 and what Vince McMahon told him after the win. He said;

“When you go back and you watch these old matches over and over again like people do today, I think my matches hold up better than any wrestlers that I can think of. I was a perfectionist in the ring and I was an innovator. I was not a thief. There’s a lot of thieves out there that steal ideas from other wrestlers.”

“If you watch my matches back, I think you see a psychology and a logic that’s always there. The matches just seem real. You don’t have to see me wiggle to move into the right place, or if I get knocked over the top rope, I’m always in the right spot at the right time.

“The timing and the ability to be a great wrestler has often been misunderstood or underappreciated. We don’t get credit for being great athletes and we don’t get credit for being great actors when in fact we’re probably a combination of them both in full motion.”
