As seen on this past episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Paul Heyman announced that WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is quitting SmackDown. His client has performed in one of the main event matches of the 2019 edition of the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event. He successfully defended the title against Cain Velasquez forcing him to tap out to the Kimura Lock in a match that barely continued over just 2 minutes.
The reason why Brock vs. Cain was short?
But the night did not end well for Brock Lesnar as he continued to hammer away on Velasquez forcing Rey Mysterio to interfere with some steel chair shots. It made Brock Lesnar leave the ring and go for a retreat. There’s no way that the beast incarnate would be feeling happy after what transpired after the title match was over.
The storyline progressed with Brock Lesnar asking Vince McMahon for a match against Rey Mysterio after the beating he received at Crown Jewel. Since WWE Superstars are contractually obligated to their respective brands, McMahon could not grant Lesnar’s wish. Brock Lesnar was exclusive to SmackDown whereas Rey Mysterio was assigned on Monday Night RAW. This led the WWE Champion to quit the blue brand, by himself.
Now we have received breaking news on this story as Brock Lesnar is no more a SmackDown roster member. As carried in a report by wrestlingINC.com, the beast incarnate is now back on WWE’s flagship show from this point,
“Brock Lesnar is now officially headed to RAW, the WWE and Universal Championships will switch brands, according to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline. Lesnar’s move will begin this Monday as Heyman already announced Lesnar would be hunting for Mysterio.”
With this move, Brock Lesnar and the WWE Championship will now be part of Raw on Monday nights. On the other hand, Bray Wyatt won the WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel and will be on SmackDown going forward.
So it was basically a strategic move from WWE creative heads where they separated the two prime championships on two different shows with this ongoing storyline between Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio.
Meanwhile, the breaking news is that the upcoming edition of WWE Raw will be having the WWE Champion on the show. This Monday’s episode takes place at The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the host venue’s Twitter account confirmed that Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will be appearing on the show which is not good news for the Master of 619.
