The first outing of Cain Velasquez turned out to be a nightmare for him as a beast incarnate was waiting for him. He learned first-hand that the Octagon and the pro-wrestling ring are not the same things.
WWE is the jungle ruled by Brock Lesnar and Cain got to know that first hand after coming short in his first title match to take place in the WWE. He could give the least resistance to the WWE Champion who picked up yet another dominant performance.
Brock Lesnar entered the arena first with his pyro entrance to kick off the main show of Crown Jewel. Cain Velasquez followed him to the ring with Rey Mysterio accompanying him to the ring. The fight started with Cain initially taking the upper-hand unloading some furious strikes on Brock Lesnar. But the champion soon caught him with the vicious Kimura Lock.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion could not counter that submission move and decided to tap out instead within just a few minutes. Brock Lesnar continued his punishing mode even after the match by applying the lock on Cain Velasquez. A furious Rey Mysterio then entered the ring with a steel chair in hand. A shot against the back of Brock Lesnar did actually nothing to the champion.
Rather, it angered him even more as he threw the Master of 619 out of the ring. Then a series of back crushing chair shots followed on Cain Velasquez alongside an F -5 on the steel chair. Soon, Rey Mysterio appeared back inside the ring and fired back at the Conqueror with some of his own chair shots. Brock Lesnar could not take it anymore and decided to retreat back to the locker room as Rey gave him a straight message.
Revealed, next matchup of Cain Velasquez
Earlier, WWE.com hyped this potential main event match of Crown Jewel with the following statements,
“Lesnar’s attack on Mysterio and his son has made the coming contest extremely personal for Velasquez, who has pledged to make his opponent relive the nightmare of their past showdown. Each and every time The Beast has looked in the mirror for the past nine years, he’s had to see the scar that Velasquez gave him when Velasquez defeated him for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. The return bout is an opportunity for Lesnar to finally right that wrong, while Velasquez can once again dethrone him.”
With the way the match at Crown Jewel has ended, it is certain that the storyline between Rey Mysterio and Brock Lesnar will continue. Probably, Cain will be back with a vengeance in mind in due course which may set up a rematch.
