Despite the loss at Summerslam 2023 at the hands of Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar managed to form a bond with his bitter rival after the show. Once the high-profile combat was over, the two shook hands and hugged it out in the middle of the ring to show respect toward each other.

In one of the co-main-events of WWE Summerslam 2023, Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar in their third Premium Live Event encounter. The pair entered a feud the Raw after WrestleMania 39 when the latter turned on the American Nightmare. Rhodes picked up the win at WWE Backlash, and The Beast Incarnate got his win back at WWE Night of Champions in late May.

Then at Summerslam, Cody emerged victorious in the feud between the two. Before showing respect to Cody for the achievement, Brock Lesnar removed his gloves and many fans thought that he was retiring or at least heading into a long hiatus. This came since he showed respect to his opponent, which has been a rare sight on WWE programming for a protected character like him.

Brock Lesnar not going into hiatus following Summerslam 2023

According to the Wrestling Observer, Brock Lesnar is booked for the WWE Fastlane premium live event on October 7th. Besides, WWE already has him advertised for the very next PLE in store which is the Payback in early September. The current expectation is that he will be in action in both the PLEs,

“He’s advertised for Payback, so maybe that’s when he comes back. I was told he’ll be gone for a while, but not a long while. So, we’ll have to see what that means.”

The third encounter between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes was a memorable one in which the latter was put over dramatically. After the match, The Beast’s big showing of respect was also not part of the plan as he went completely unscripted in it. For this, he was showered with praise from his opponent in a post-PLE press conference,

“I’m very grateful for what’s happened. I don’t want to wrestle Brock Lesnar again, but I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do it and compete at his level.” (quotes courtesy Sescoops)
