Bubba Ray Dudley aka Bully Rae recently spoke about the pro wrestling kayfabe and also talk how much it means to him. For those who do not know about kayfabe, it is the thin curtain between the world of professional wrestling and real life. As it is known to the most, Pro wrestling is scripted, and the scripted world and life of professional wrestlers are what we address as kayfabe.
There are many pro wrestling companies who value their kayfabe a little bit too much. WWE is arguably maintain kayfabe more than any other promotion in the world. It is believed that WWE give a close to all their workers and wrestlers to maintain kayfabe even at the outside of the professional wrestling world.
Bubba Ray Dudley On The Importance Of Kayfabe For Him
This is the biggest reason why you will see most of the pro wrestlers from WWE are maintaining kayfabe even on streets and while giving interviews to different medias.
It has also been seen that WWE is taking strict action against those wrestlers who did not maintain kayfabe outside the world of wrestling. For example, Serena Deeb was doing really good as a member of the Straight Edge Society of CM Punk. But WWE released her because she was not maintaining kayfabe very well.
Former 9 times WWE Tag Team Champion Bubba Ray Dudley you also famous for maintaining kayfabe very well. Recently Bubba Ray Dudley spoke to Busted Open: The Master Class where will how much kayfabe means to him. He said;
“I won’t even say the word,” Bully Ray said. “How about that? In my eyes, I still protect this industry any way I possibly can. I’m willing to pull back the curtain just enough for smarter wrestling fans and when I say smarter wrestling fans, I’m not talking about smart marks. I’m talking about fans who want to look at the industry in a more intellectual way. But to me, as a performer, what we do is sacred, I really don’t want to talk about it.
“But yeah, I’m all for protecting the wrestling industry to the death. So the conversation for me is uncomfortable because I don’t like to admit that what we’re talking about today doesn’t exist anymore.”
“To me it should still exist,” Bully Ray continued. “Just because Vince McMahon decided to call this entertainment pull the curtain back and since so many people decided to pull the curtain back, doesn’t mean that I have to be on board with it.
“I still do what I have to do to make sure the business that I grew up on is still protected, to the extent I can protect it, you know how they say, when you go to vote, everybody’s vote mean something everybody’s vote can make a difference while protecting this industry means something to me, and I’m going to use my voice and my vote and choose to protect pro wrestling, as opposed to give it all away.”
