Cain Velasquez is no more an MMA performer. But rather he has signed a multi-year deal with the WWE to become a member of the biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world. Thus he is now up for one of the toughest fights of his life when he faces The Beast Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel inside the squared circle. The match will take place for the WWE Championship that is going to be the main event of the pay-per-view night on October 31st.

Update On Gorgeous Scarlett Bordeaux Signing With The Company

Why Did WWE Draft Brock Lesnar On Friday Night Smackdown?

On the verge of competing on this special night, Cain Velasquez appeared in an interview with Ariel Helwani, earlier this week. He spoke on a number of topics including contractual obligations with AAA promotion, WWE schedule and more. Speaking about AAA, Cain revealed that he’ll have to perform in one more match with the independent promotion which WWE allowed him to do. This made one of the exclusive contract holders within the company,

“So, I’m still gonna be able to compete on one of their [AAA] shows. So, that is awesome that WWE just gave me the green light to go ahead and compete on one of their shows, of AAA’s choosing. They know I have one more obligation to AAA and they gave me the green light on that. So, it’s just… to me it’s a great opportunity to come in and be a part of the WWE roster.”

There’s no confirmation on when Cain Velasquez will return to in-ring action for AAA, but he noted that it will be an event of AAA’s choosing. The former UFC heavyweight made his pro wrestling debut earlier this summer at AAA TripleMania. He worked in another match at the AAA Invades NY event. The then reports suggested that he had a three-match deal with the Mexico-based promotion where he had the third and final match to compete in.

How Will WWE Host Smackdown The Night After Crown Jewel PPV?

As of now, we have seen Cain Velasquez in two TV appearances with Rey Mysterio where he confronted the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. He also did an appearance on this week’s WWE Backstage preview with Renee Young and Booker T. Despite this, it’s still not confirmed whether he is going to make regular show-ups on SmackDown. It’s still up on the air whether WWE will be using him on a sporadic Brock Lesnar schedule or the regular schedule used for Ronda Rousey. Meanwhile, here’s what Cain Velasquez offered for his immediate in-ring future,

“As of right now, I really want to focus on getting better, knowing this sport in and out, and just getting better all around. That’s my goal. Yeah, and I’m down to do whatever match, do whatever I can to go in and obviously… the name of the game is always getting more better and more comfortable, so that’s what I’m going to do and if I have to do it by doing more matches, then it’s all good. But, I’m never looking past my opponent and that’s Brock Lesnar right now. So, I’m solely focused on him and practicing things I can do in our match.”

Reports surrounding Cain Velasquez indicated that his pro-wrestling future could be in jeopardy as he might need to undergo knee surgery. While speaking about the same, he wiped out the possibilities of undergoing the knives in due course. He’s “all good” with just the knee brace and expects he would still be “all good” if he didn’t use the brace. It’s just a precautionary measure which is a throwback nod to WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin, as per him.

Lastly, Cain Velasquez noted on his MMA career. He has recently pulled himself out of the USADA pool confirming his retirement from the UFC promotion. But deep down the road, he still does not wipe out the chances of having one more fight,

“Like I said before, I’ll never say never. So, who knows, down the road if I get another fight. I think it’s very possible because it’s just something… yeah, man, it’s just something that I love. I love to train, to compete, I love to go to practice, always learning and perfecting this craft of MMA. So, down the road, who knows?” (quotes courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
