Cesaro is currently undergoing a slight singles push in his career after waiting a long time. He’s been in the WWE locker room since 2006 although his arrival on TV happened several years later. Due to language problems, he never had the opportunity to go into the main event pictures despite having incredible talent.
Now that, rumors are rife that Cesaro has just signed a new contract with the WWE, Vince McMahon is showing interest in him via which he can expect some bright things, down the road. Here the question remains whether the long-stuck mid-carder will get his opportunity to the Universal Championship or not. Perhaps the answer is yes but for that, he will have to wait until WrestleMania 37 passes by.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the current creative direction for Cesaro. Per him, it doesn’t seem that he will get a Universal Title match prior to the Show or Shows. Since the title match is already booked, the assumption is that WWE is saving up the Swiss Superman for a title match only after WrestleMania 37 is over,

Cesaro didn’t have enough opportunities in the WWE in the past
It should be noted that some fans might not be happy after learning that Cesaro would have to wait at least a couple of months for one title shot. Previously, such situations occurred but WWE quickly closed out the window for him and he never had the opportunity to become a world champion. The bright part of the situation is that he might end up winning the title, at one point.
At present, Roman Reigns is the reigning WWE Universal Champion and the company won’t mess around with him given he is all set to feature in the main event of WrestleMania 37, again. But WWE will also need opponents for the Tribal Chief once the Biggest Event gets over. Cesaro, being a babyface player could become a viable option for him.
Previous reports suggested that Cesaro’s WWE contract was set to expire around WrestleMania 37. But The Observer was the source to disclose that he has either signed a new contract or verbally agreed to a new deal “a few weeks ago.” Not much details are available regarding the new deal he signed but we can only assume that it will be intact for at least a couple of years to follow.
